Iran Offers to Free U.S. Hiker for a Cool $500,000Posted on Sep 12, 2010
Three U.S. hikers were detained by Iranian authorities more than a year ago, adding to already simmering tensions between the Islamic republic and the U.S. Now Tehran says it is ready to free the female member of the captive trio if a $500,000 bail is paid. —JCL

The United States has arbitrarily frozen Iranian bank accounts in the US that are worth billions of dollars of Iranian money, including massive amounts of money Iran paid for US arms that the US never delivered to Tehran.

Re Lockweed: People from western countries don’t go “hiking”, crossing the border from Iraq into Iran . . . Iran will gain nothing by releasing this spy.”
And what kind of useful spy information are you proposing that these three bad western spies could gain from their wilderness hike, Lockweed?
No, it’s rather obvious these three people are simply innocent idealists whose naiveté will be exploited to the fullest by political radicals on both sides.

People from western countries don’t go “hiking”, crossing the border from Iraq
into Iran - especially during a war. If three Iranians illegally crossed the border
from Canada into the USA, do you think these people would be released? No,
of course not. This same question was posed to the Presidents Press Secretary
who of course avoided answering the question and began talking about
something else, attempting to twist the conversation to the USA’s favor.
Iran will gain nothing by releasing this spy. You can’t negotiate with a
militaristic colonial power like the USA. They will continue to threaten Iran and
its people and aid the murderers of Palestinians and other Arabs whom the
Iranians have helped with aid.
Iran needs to ally itself with Russia, China and others who don’t seek to destroy

policy.
