Insurgents Form Their Own Iraq Government

A coalition of eight Sunni insurgent groups has announced the formation of a cabinet, naming the head of al-Qaida in Iraq the minister of war. The announcement from the “Islamic State of Iraq” was made hours after the group released a video showing the executions of 20 people who were Iraqi civilians, Iraqi soldiers or policemen.

AP via Yahoo!:

CAIRO, Egypt - A Sunni insurgent coalition posted Web videos on Thursday naming the head of al-Qaida in Iraq as “minister of war” and showing the execution of 20 men it said were members of the Iraqi military and security forces.

The announcement unveiling an “Islamic Cabinet” for Iraq appeared to have multiple aims. One was to present the Islamic State of Iraq coalition as a “legitimate” alternative to the U.S.-backed, Shiite-led administration of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki—and to demonstrate that it was growing in power despite the U.S. military push against insurgents.

It also likely sought to establish the coalition’s dominance among insurgents after an embarrassing public dispute with other Iraqi Sunni militants.

I’ve been trying to find a statement made by Abraham Lincoln regarding the probable length of the Civil War in America but I have been unable to find it in order to quote it.

Lincoln said the war would last as long as God thought blood was owed for our enslavement of a people. Essentially he meant that as long as one person believed they should continue the conflict, it would continue.

bu$h and his fellow mad men have unleashed the Sectarian hatred in Iraq. That (it’s not a civil war) war will go on as long as those involved think it should go on. Our presense only prolongs the agony.

The ugliest part of it is that the majority of Iraqis want to peacefully co-exist with each other.

Those using the Sectarian hatred to fuel the war are really only interested in the personal power they may gain form it.

How can bu$h sleep at night? Cheney on the other hand is diabolical and I imagine he sleeps quite well thank you very much!

The king still believes firmly that there’s
absolutely “no civil war” in Iraq.

The king is always “right” !

If dummy evil Bush can become the supreme leader of the U.S. for two terms, then it might as well be legitimate and reasonable for any insurgent group to form their own government.

After all, right or wrong, they think that they are on a mission to right the wrongs brought to the area by the evil wars of Bush and gang.

This is real progress. Not only has our invasion of Iraq spawned a new government, it’s spawned TWO new governments. With the head of Al Qaeda/Iraq heading the Department of War of government #2.

Yes sir, things are moving ‘forward’. Before we invaded, there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq, now they head the Department of War (Wanna bet Al Qaeda heads a War Department better than our old Department of War Head, Rumsfeld?).

So it’s the puppet regime of the US, using torture, rape, murder, rendition, indiscriminate bombing of civilians, and city-leveling techniques unseen since Vietnam and WWII, at the direction of the US; against Al Qaeda/Iraq, using torture, murder, kidnap, beheadings, car bombs, IED’s, suicide bombers, and a willingness to give their lives for their cause.

A nice civilized conflict to start off the 21st century.

Yippee, ride ‘em cowboy, you all-hat, no-head, horses-ass Bush.

It is going to take new thinking to achieve some kind of reasonable outcome for Iraq.

The Bush-Cheney approaches and tactics do not look promising for either the Iraqi people, the American people or the international community.

“Soft power” methods such as diplomacy, information operations, positive psychological ops, persuasion ops and even unconventional ops based on new discoveries are needed. Check out:
