Homosexuality May Become a Felony in LiberiaPosted on Mar 3, 2012
Liberia is considering two proposals that would make consensual same-sex acts punishable with jail time; NATO refuses to get involved in the crisis in Syria; and a Jewish journalist killed by terrorists was baptized posthumously by the Mormon Church. These discoveries and more below. On a regular basis, Truthdig brings you the news items and odds and ends that have found their way to Larry Gross, director of the USC Annenberg School for Communication. A specialist in media and culture, art and communication, visual communication and media portrayals of minorities, Gross helped found the field of gay and lesbian studies. homosexuality possibly becoming a felony in Liberia
bothers me far less than knowing that homosexuality
is regularly punished by a sentence of death by
strangulation in Iran.
......” harges related to homosexuality, according to
a semi-official news agency.
The men, only identified by their initials, were
hanged on Sunday in the south-western city of Ahvaz,
the capital of Iran’s Khuzestan province.
“The three convicts were sentenced to death based on
the articles 108 and 110 of Iran’s Islamic penal
code, for acts against the sharia law and bad deeds,”
the Isna agency quoted a judiciary official in
Khuzestan as saying.
Iran Human Rights, an independent NGO based in
Norway, said the men were charged with “lavat” –
sexual intercourse between two men.”......

Who’s Larry? What, he merits one name, like Adele or
Britney? So how come I haven’t seen his baggy white
kisser on the cover of the super market tabloids?
He better write like freaking Hunter Thompson or
something. I mean he’s got nothing new to add to the
narrative. The sub-heads tell me he’s spewing
stinking, undigested chunks of the current AIPAC/AP
narrative. I didn’t bother to read further. No point
in stirring around in all that familiar muck. Any
sentient citizen of the Western Imperium wades
through it all day long.
In capitalist societies people usually gets
