A supporter of Gustavo Rojas sports his campaign badge. Venezuelans go to the polls Sept. 26 to elect a new parliament.

A Venezuelan politician has seemingly gotten to the heart, or at least the chest, of what elections are all about – attracting attention. Gustavo Rojas, a candidate for the country’s National Assembly, is holding a campaign-fundraising raffle in which the lucky winner will receive a free ... breast augmentation.

The BBC:

A Venezuela politician has launched a raffle to help fund his election campaign—and the lucky winner will receive a breast-enlargement operation.

Gustavo Rojas hopes the unusual raffle, with tickets at $6 (£3.90), will help him get elected to the National Assembly on 26 September.

“Some people raffle TVs and we decided to offer this. It’s an interesting prize,” he told Reuters news agency.

There is already democracy in Venezuela.  It’s the United States that’s losing democracy, if the Majority Common Population doesn’t reclaim democracy, and democracy doesn’t come on the Republican side of the political spectrum.

Speaking of getting chopped up, I have a dear friend who would not think any of this is the least bit funny.

Here in Latin America tits-and-ass campaigns are only superseded in number by those of the bread-and-circus preference.

Rojas is just another “junior”—a pampered upper middle class twit.  Maybe his slogan should be Tits for Twits—or perhaps Twits for Tits?

It’s very easy to see why even the opposition polls in Venezuela are predicting that the Chavistas will best the opposition one more time by receiving about two thirds of the vote.

As the world goes to hell in a handbasket, the opposition twits take their tits to Miami to buy Versace.

I don’t understand being driven to surgery, for Dog’s sake, by a poor self-image, as a ‘good time’.  And that’s not even mentioning the rather peculiar aesthetics involved.

At least you spell it right and don’t use “populous”

Robesp:

Do you people EVER unfurrow your fevered brows?? We’re talking about a guy who likes tits for godsake! Who cares what party he belongs to? You feed right into the stereotype of the modern Puritan progressive - someone who is desperately worried that somewhere out there, someone is having a good time.

Anyone notice how the article fails to mention what party Rojas is for? He’s for the right-wing opposition, just goes to show how desperate the old guard is getting in their attempts to take votes away from Chavez and the PSUV party.
