Huge Majority Backs Gays in the Military

According to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, a massive 75 percent of Americans are all for letting gays serve in the military, although the White House has opted for a slow and steady approach to ending the ban. In other poll news, Americans are miffed at the Democrats, but the president and his party are still outscoring Republicans.

Eighty-one percent of respondents to a New York Times-CBS News poll said it’s time for new people in Congress, however. That same poll also found a majority of Americans favor letting gays serve in the military.

According to that survey, 55 percent of Americans have heard or read “not much” or “nothing” about the tea party movement.  —PZS

“I think it only becomes an issue when people flaunt their sexual preferences.” (gweets)

Oh, you mean like a Humvy full of horney heteros slavering all over a horde of on-duty hookers?

Or, a mom or dad proudly pushing the product of their sexual preference in a baby carriage down the street?

It’s about time the heteros wake up to the fact that they share this planet with MILLIONS of non-hetero folk who have every right to live a hassle and discrimination free life as they demand for themselves.

I didn’t know there was a ban on gays in the Military. Is there really a question like that on the application? I think it only becomes an issue when people flaunt their sexual preferences.

I’ve always been impressed (in a Machiavellian sense) by the power of Democrats and Republicans to dominate all public offices in this country, given how much the public hates both parties.

Given their unholy association with the likes of Palin and Bachmann, it’s probably for the best that the majority of the public doesn’t know too much about the Tea Protest movement: while we desperately need a strong new anti-statist movement to break the power lock of the Democrats and Republicans, we seem doomed to have such movements taken over by whichever party is currently out of power, despite the fact that that party has absolutely no interest in said movement’s concerns.  The Republicans’ cynical attempt at an appropriation of the Tea Protesters is just as bad and hypocritical as the Democrats’ attempts to hijack the antiwar movement, and we should have no doubt that their fake anti-statism will evaporate just as soon as they regain a majority in Congress and/or the presidency.

This is just the type of fluff issue that Chris Hedges referred to in his excellent column two weeks ago. Let the public rant and rave about nonsense that the Korporate elites couldn’t care less about, while real life and death concerns over jobs and healthcare go unresolved.

Well, that only took a century to achieve.

What’s next?

BTW, I don’t know what the “Tea Party” is either, and I don’t care. It’s highly unlikely to be much different than the other brats in the sandbox.
