With murmurs of a veto in the background, Republicans successfully pushed a measure through the U.S. House rejecting the FCC’s 2010 net neutrality rules for Internet service providers.

A similar measure awaits action in the Senate, but the White House has indicated that President Obama would veto any such resolution. —JCL

Reuters:

The House of Representatives voted on Friday to reject Internet “neutrality” rules that were adopted last year to keep big Internet service providers from blocking certain traffic

House Republicans, in a 240-179 vote, pushed through a measure disapproving the Federal Communications Commission’s rules. Tech and telecom giants such as Verizon Communications Inc and Microsoft Corp could be affected.

The outlook for further progress by the Republicans in rolling back the FCC’s actions was uncertain, however.

Obama will veto it. Much of his funding when he ran for president came from enthusiastic supporters of net neutrality. The more important question here is why do the Republicans want to shut down the internet? What have they got to hide? I think at least 73% of Americans know exactly what they’ve got to hide, now and into the future. They want to shut down the internet for the same reason they want to shut down Wikileaks: because the truth can only do them harm.

The government has main-slime-media totally under its thumb.  The Internet is
somewhat out of control so something has to be done about that.

PBS, NPR, NEA, EPA, Planned Parenthood…now the FCC and net neutrality.  Is there anything these extremist boneheads actually LIKE in this country?  (Don’t answer that…LOL)

Seems to me, I remember reading something on this very site, that the proposed
“net neutrality” rules are anything but neutral.  Can anyone help me out with this
one?  I’ll repost if I can find it.

It’s our own fault. The reason the House made this move is because The Boner’s p****d at all the remarks made on the ‘Net about his orange face, and how he always looks and sounds as though each morning he dips his head in a bucket of crap.
So from now on, it’s gonna cost us a $100 bill each time we blog about s**t-face, unless…
our waffling, wavering President has the gonads to veto rejection of net neutrality.
