Guns 4 Jesus: Michigan Company Adds Scriptural Codes to Rifle Sights

rifle sight
abcnews.go.com

Here we see a Trijicon-made rifle sight stamped with “JN8:12,” referring to John 8:12, which reads, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Because nothing says “Jesus” like high-powered rifle sights, Trijicon, a Michigan-based company that makes just those military accoutrements, has been churning out sights for use by U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that are stamped with Biblical codes from the New Testament. So much for the whole “no proselytizing” rule in our nation’s armed forces.  —KA

ABC News:

A photo on a Department of Defense Web site shows Iraqi soldiers being trained by U.S. troops with a rifle equipped with the bible-coded sights.

“It’s wrong, it violates the Constitution, it violates a number of federal laws,” said Michael “Mikey” Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, an advocacy group that seeks to preserve the separation of church and state in the military.
“It allows the Mujahedeen, the Taliban, al Qaeda and the insurrectionists and jihadists to claim they’re being shot by Jesus rifles,” he said.

Weinstein, an attorney and former Air Force officer, said many members of his group who currently serve in the military have complained about the markings on the sights. He also claims they’ve told him that commanders have referred to weapons with the sights as “spiritually transformed firearm[s] of Jesus Christ.”

Sarah,

Why, I’ll be damned. Unlike our friend Frank, I think
you’ve got it!

If we can’t call on The Prince of Peace to help us
maim and murder, what the hell good is He?

What could be more perfectly fitting than that the
weapons we use to murder are sanctified by The Lord?

How on earth could we more convincingly prove our
devotion to Christ than by reigning death on muslims
via weapons encoded with Biblical verse?

We may not quite have the courage of our muslim
brothers who shout “God Is Good” as they shoot at
U.S. soldiers who’ve invaded their lands on false
pretexts. But killing muslims who are too stoopid to
understand that we’re killing them in their country
for their own good with weapons encoded Biblical
verses is better than nothing. [Can there be any
doubt it makes Christ happy?]

Praise The Lord, and pass that ammunition!

True, GaryA, God as described in the Bible is a mass murdering raging psychopath who asks his followers to murder, loot, rape and enslave in his name. All the more reason not to believe in the Bible.

Perish the thought that we are shooting and killing people in a non PC manner because of obscure inscriptions on a gun sight? Was the nose art on our B-17s during WWII inflamatory when they depicted blowing Adolph Hitler to smitherines? I am waiting for the hue and cry from the muslim community over each time an insurgent blows up a US soldier to the cry of “Allah Akbar”. Don’t hear it???? Neither do I.

As the most Christian nation in the world, the USA’s
wars are fought with hopes of helping achieve
Christ’s final victory.

So how could anyone be ashamed of inscribing Biblical
citations onto the sites of our weapons? To the
extent that those sites abet the murder of infidels,
anti-Americans and non-Christians (Jews excepted, of
course), they are helping in the Christian struggle
against barbarism.

I say that we should stop pussy-footing around and,
rather than have such coded messages that only the
extremely well informed understand what they mean,
the inscriptions should be explicit and plain for all
to see. Why should we hide our devotion and
commitment to vanquishing Satan in the name of The
Lord?
