It seems the viral horde that spread the message of African warlord Joseph Kony got what it wanted, or maybe just had it all along. For about six months, U.S. Green Berets have been training and supporting soldiers in four nations on the hunt for the Lord’s Resistance Army leader.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Kony 2012 campaign, organized by Invisible Children, deserves credit for the military action: “Officials acknowledge that the campaign nudged the U.S. government to commit troops to train and advise African troops from the four nations most affected by the LRA. But they insist that African troops are leading the effort.”
But on Truthdig Radio, we had two aid workers in Uganda, including a child soldier survivor, tell us military action was misguided. —PZS
