Perhaps hoping that Americans are either forgetful or forgiving (or both), former House Speaker and ’90s novelty throwback Newt Gingrich announced Monday, through de rigueur Twitter and Facebook channels, that he’ll be running for president in 2012.

AP via TheLedger.com:

Newt Gingrich is running for president. The former House speaker disclosed his bid on Twitter and Facebook on Monday and urged followers to tune into Fox News on Wednesday.

“I will be on to talk about my run for president of the United States,” Gingrich wrote after spending a year or more publicly laying the groundwork for a GOP presidential candidacy. “I have been humbled by all the encouragement you have given me to run.”

The move was hardly a surprise; Gingrich has spent months raising money, assembling a campaign team and visiting early primary states. He also quietly opened a campaign headquarters in Atlanta, and had long been scheduled to address the Georgia Republican Party Convention on Friday in Macon, Ga. Aides say that will be his first speech as a full-fledged candidate.

It will be fun to spend 2012 watching a bunch of circus clowns (including Obama) fighting over the imperial throne.

Newt actually thinks he can win?

Textbook denial and delusion.

So far he’s been getting a free ride from the msm.  He hasn’t been asked why a man with the kind of ethical violations which made it necessary for him to resign as house speaker should be taken seriously as a candidate for president.  Would you buy a used car from this man?

This sure screws-up Trump’s candidacy. The Donald thought he was going to be the biggest mouth and biggest long-shot in the 2012 presidential race, but The Newt has him beat.

‘Course, they are both the favorites in the GOPer primaries.
