White House / Pete Souza

Back in the day: Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, center, converses with President Obama and assistant press secretary Tommy Vietor in the doorway to the Oval Office in March 2009.

When Robert Gibbs left his White House post as the Obama administration’s chief communicator, he made some vague noises about his plans for the future beyond maintaining loose professional ties with his former boss. Now it looks as though he may join another powerful institution: Facebook.  —KA

“Dealb%k” in The New York Times:

Mr. Gibbs, who left the White House in February after two years on the job, had been planning to help establish President Obama’s re-election campaign before taking a private sector job, these people said.

Facebook, however, is pressing Mr. Gibbs to consider the job more quickly, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the conversations were supposed to remain confidential.

A job for Mr. Gibbs at Facebook could be worth millions of dollars. While details of his potential compensation package have yet to be discussed, people briefed on the talks said that he would receive a cash salary as well as shares ahead of the initial offering. Facebook is being valued by some investors at more than $60 billion and could be the largest offering in history.

Hey hold on there.  According to the Talking Puppets on TV, I understand that it was Facebook that was responsible for bringing democracy, hope, and change to Egypt. Indeed the most important catalyst in democritization of Egypt was America’s most intellectualy inspiring internet community.

Maybe if we can just create some more multibillion dollar corporations, we can hope it will bring dumbocracy to the home of the brave and land of the idiots.

I love politicians, when they say their first order of the day is about jobs,..... they mean their own!  Face book must pay and have better benefits then professional and unprofessional lobbyism? Job security has a true meaning, just not for the person on the street.

“FaceBook’s Suckerberg to hire former U.S.S.A. Propaganda Minister” the title should read.

Hmm… will this add to freedom of speech or detract from freedom of speech?
