Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office promised to issue a revised list of prohibited goods “as quickly as possible.”

Responding to mounting international pressure in the wake of its bloody raid on an aid flotilla in May, Israel announced it will ease its three-year-long blockade of the Gaza Strip, forbidding only weapons and related material. —JCL

Al Jazeera English:

Israel has said it will announce a revised list of goods allowed into and out of the Gaza Strip, easing its blockade on the territory.

The office of Binyamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, said on Sunday that it would publish a revised list of banned goods “as quickly as possible”.

The new list is said to be made up of weapons and “weapons materials”, with all other goods to be permitted entry to Gaza, which is ruled by Hamas.

Ah, now the other shoe drops… NetanYaHoo is now saying he’s tightening the blockade.

http://news.antiwar.com/2010/06/20/netanyahu-vows-to-tighten-gaza-blockade/

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a pledge that the move would actually “tighten” the blockade.

“Our friends around the world are getting behind our decision and giving international legitimacy to the security blockade on Hamas,” Netanyahu insisted, adding again that “dual use” goods would continue to be barred from Gaza.”

So, A) It was all just another Israeli lie.  And B), Israel still has no right to be blockading Gaza ... even if Hillary and Obama agree.  Having fellow criminals agree that bank robbery is not a crime doesn’t make it legal.

This pure bushitting and that is all.
Israel aim since its creation in 1948 is to ethnic cleanse all of Palestine of its Arab inhabitants.
To accomplish that, they are “tightening the screws”, slowly but methodically by making life so hard, miserable and humiliating for the Palestinians that the Palestinians has no choice but to leave Palistine, or face life in crowded squalid ghettos where there is despair and no hope for themselves or their children.

Israel’s so-called loosening its Gaza blockade is just another public bullshit, intended for deceiving those with the herd mentality.

If a real loosening of Gaza blockade does actually materialize, then that would only mean that another Israeli strategy has been defeated. It could also mean that social, political, military, diplomatic and economic considerations have contributed to the tactical collapse and defeat of such blockade.

However, the long-term strategy of terrorizing the Palestinians will always remain in place as long as there is a Zionist colonial entity called Israel!

Truth doesn’t matter, only what Islamists and the left/liberal friends want matters.
Anything Israel does in it’s own defense is Israel’s fault.Yeah, why don’t those damned Jews just quietly board the cattle cars and let themselves be killed, like they did 60 years ago? Those European Jews were so much more civilized, except for a few brutes who savagely attacked those nice enlightened Germans in the Warsaw ghetto.

What bargaining chip does the Israeli government really have with the world community. They are building a East Berlin style wall and recreating painful circumstances scarred across entire generations. I’m pretty sure ‘losing up’ is irrelevant when the overall end is a massive cement wall between two people.

How will a wall deter what the most powerful nation across continents and seas fears?

Samson writes:

“The wording is still extremely slippery.  The Israelis still use some slippery
language to say they want to ban any weapons or anything else that might aid
Hamas in one of their very rare rocket attacks.  But that’s exactly the same
reasoning that was used to exclude all the stuff that’s been banned.”

Yes, Samson; if we accept Israel’s notion of “aiding Hamas”, we’re back to
banning wheelchairs and insulin and cilantro, because anything that makes life
more bearable in Gaza is helpful to Hamas. This is the sweeping conception of
“terrorist infrastructure” that Israel uses to justify any abuse whatsoever, up to
and including the cold-blooded maiming and murder of innocent, unarmed
American citizens.

I won’t be surprised if the Israelis start assassinating their American critics right
here, instead of waiting till they go to Gaza to protest. Sooner or later we’ll all
find ourselves inside of the constantly expanding Israeli sphere of “pre-
emption”.

Yeah, it’s amazing how often Israel’s supporters like Knopfler
tell us to “leave Israel alone”, which sounds like
sensible advice—except that it doesn’t mean “The US
government should stay out of it, because it’s not your concern”,
but rather, “Do not question your government’s heavy support
for just one of the two parties in the conflict, even though it’s
none of your business.”

To be fair, the Al-Jazeera link has been updated recently, while the FAIR story is two days old.  So maybe this is something later.

The wording is still extremely slippery.  The Israelis still use some slippery language to say they want to ban any weapons or anything else that might aid Hamas in one of their very rare rocket attacks.  But that’s exactly the same reasoning that was used to exclude all the stuff that’s been banned.

So, they are coming out with a new list.  Who the heck knows that that means?  And, does it mean the guy at the border crossing is going to follow it?

The real problem is that Israel’s entire treatment of Gaza is illegal. They didn’t have the right to bomb and kill 1400 people (that’s half a 9-11 BTW) and it doesn’t mean they have any right to blockade Gaza.  Gaza is outside the recognized boundaries of Israel and Israel needs to retreat and respect that.  That’s the problem here.  And a new list ain’t gonna fix that problem.

For once I agree with Knopler.

I think leaving Israel alone is a wonderful idea.  The USA is broke.  We are being told we can’t afford unemployment benefits for our citizens.  So, its definitely time to leave Israel alone by not sending $5 billion of our tax dollars to it every year any more.

And, I’m sure we could save on the defense budget as well if we stopped all military cooperation and assistance with Israel.

In fact, if we just left the whole region alone from Israel to Afghanistan, we’d save hundreds of billions of dollars.  We could afford to DOUBLE unemployment benefits if we took that step.

So, yes, most certainly, let the USA leave Israel alone so we can tend to our own problems.  Bye, bye Israel, its been nice, good luck, you’ve had years to make friends with your neighbors, so I’m sure you’ll be fine.  Bye.

The premise of Truthdig’s report is false.
There has been no easing of the blockade.
Israel issued two statements, one in English,
the other in Hebrew. The one in English is false
propaganda for American consumption. The one
in Hebrew makes it clear that no such easing of the
blockade has occurred or is planned.

I think Samson’s entire post below bears repeating:

Seems like Truthdig has managed to completely miss the real story here.

Israel made two announcements, one in English and one in Hebrew.  Only the
English announcement said that they are easing the blockade.

Since the English is obviously for the rest of the world, while the Hebrew is
obviously telling their own nation what they are doing, this is obviously just
Israeli mis-information.

Israel has never honoured any of its previous commitments, that’s reason enough for peace loving people to doubt Israel’s intention to respect its promise this time.Nevertheless, given the opportunity by Western apologists to beautify its ugly human’s record,Israel, fearing mounting world pressure, agreed to ease its blockade of Gaza. The case in contention here however, is about the legality of the Israeli blocade and not about Israel benevolence which whatever way iterpreted, will remain in direct contradiction with international law. Therefore,it would be more approprate for those concerned with Israel’s safety and world image,to sternly advice their morally cretin ally to cease behaving as an outlaw and learn to respect human laws.

Palestinians Need a State: Loosening Blockade is not Enough

June 14, 2010

by Juan Cole

One problem with the focus the Israeli raid on the Gaza aid flotilla is that it may make it appear that the Israeli blockade of Gaza is the central issue. Then any Israeli loosening of the blockade would seem to be an advance.

In fact, the blockade is not the problem but is rather a symptom of the underlying issue, which is Palestinian statelessness. Gazans have no state. What the Israelis deign to call the ‘Hamas regime’ is no such thing because it lacks sovereignty, over its borders, air, sea, imports and exports. (The idea that Israel is ‘at war’ with its own occupied territory is laughable.) The Israeli ‘withdrawal’ of 2005 simply removed a few thousand colonists and withdrew troops, usually, to the borders. But it did not allow the creation of a sovereign state. Gazans are excluded from a third of their own farmland by Israeli restrictions on where people can live. That so many Gazans are unemployed, that their industries have collapsed, that they are food insecure, and that malnutrition is causing stunting in 10% of children– all these outrages derive from their lack of a sovereign state to look out for their interests.”

Is THAT ARAB, Islamic,Muslim women have more human rights, in Israel than ANY ARAB-Islamic-Muslim Country, in the world. At least the Israeli propagandists are hilariously funny in their comments.

A US citizen was shot once in the chest and four times to the head.  In the warped Israeli view, that’s “self-defense” and “keeping the peace”.  Anyone else would call that the classic assasins kill ... one to the heart, then shots to the head to finish the victim.

Israel holds a million people captive in a vast concentration camp, yet any attempt to bring them aid is described as “anti-freedom”.

Freedom includes the right to travel where we want to travel.  So, why can’t we go to Gaza?  Why can’t we bring some toys and some medicine with us since we hear they need both?  Somehow, in Israeli propaganda, the notion of freely traveling to someplace and bringing gifts is ‘anti-freedom’.

Then of course the comment just descends even further into bigoted slurs against another’s religion.

If you want to be disgusted, just listen to what Israel and its supporters really say.
