Gay Marriage Vote Coming Soon in N.J. Senate

Yes, those would be two ladies on the New Jersey flag pictured here, but don’t get too excited—they represent “Liberty” and “Prosperity.”

The New Jersey Senate has reportedly scheduled Thursday for their vote on whether to legalize gay marriage. Timing will be key in determining the outcome of the issue in the Garden State. Gay marriage advocates have a sympathetic governor in office for only another two weeks.  —KA

The New York Times:

Five states now recognize gay marriage. Gay rights advocates have been pushing for New Jersey to join them quickly.

Gov. Jon Corzine supports the measure. But Chris Christie, who will replace him in two weeks, says he would veto it.
