French President Nicolas Sarkozy, center, and Paris prosecutor Francois Molins arrive to meet soldiers and police officers near the apartment building where a suspect in the shootings at a Jewish school was barricaded in Toulouse.

The man suspected of killing three children and a rabbi on Monday in Toulouse, France, was identified and surrounded by police on Wednesday. More details about Mohammed Merah, who is also connected to the shooting deaths of three paratroopers earlier this month, also emerged.  —KA

CBS News:

French police were preparing to storm an apartment building in Toulouse on Wednesday to arrest a holed-up gunman who is suspected in seven killings and claiming allegiance to al Qaeda, a top police official said.

Three officers were wounded in a predawn raid while trying to arrest the 24-year-old Frenchman of Algerian descent who authorities said had spent time in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hundreds of riot police have surrounded the building in the southwestern city.

Cedric Delage, regional secretary for a police union, said the suspect has promised to turn himself into police shortly. Delage said if that doesn’t happen, police will force their way in.

vec——please understand the difference between
intentional murder and killing.

I do not hold that there are any inherent differences
in the value of the lives of children..

nor do I hold out any hope for anyone who finds it
proper to intentionally murder children for no reason
other than they belong to a group that produced
different people with of whom you feel aggrieved.

“he should be tried and be allowed a chance to explain how he’s justified in killing
children in France as revenge for Palestinian children who’ve been killed. “

heterochromatic above implies that murdering children for any reason is unacceptable and proper justification should be presented when ever we “snuff” a child.

The number of children outright murdered in drone strikes is far greater then the 3 children Mohammed Merah gunned down in France. These faceless, nameless dead Muslim children seem to hold less value.  Dead Muslim children are being stacked like cord-wood, yet the bulk of our outrage and compassion is being redirected else where?
