Fox News to Drop Glenn Beck’s Show

Although Glenn Beck himself is characterizing the change as a “new phase” of his “partnership” with Roger Ailes’ conservative-magnet cable channel, the bottom line of this story is that Beck’s show will be phased out of the Fox News programming lineup later this year.  —KA

“Media Alley” in The Wrap:

In a carefully-worded statement, Fox News and Mercury Radio Arts, Beck’s production company, announced that they “will work together to develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the Fox News Channel as well as content for other platforms including Fox News’ digital properties.”

But “Glenn intends to transition off of his daily program, the third highest rated in all of cable news, later this year.”

“I truly believe that America owes a lot to Roger Ailes and Fox News,” Beck said in a statement. “I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I’ve learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership.”

Ailes called Beck “a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody’s standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”

[...] Rumors have been swirling about Beck’s television contract with Fox for months—and his ratings have been fizzling much longer. Through March 1, Beck’s show was down 35 percent in total viewers in 2011 (averaging 1.9 million over the first seven weeks, compared to 2.93 million last year) and 44 percent in the 25-to-54-year-old demographic (447,000 vs. 793,000 a year ago). Through March, Beck was down 30 percent in total viewers, and 37 percent among 25-to-54-year-olds. And it’s seen nine consecutive month-over-month declines in total viewers, and seven among 25-to-54-year-olds.

If there is a third rail at Fox News, suggesting that George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were part of a conspiracy to protect an Islamic caliphate and unleash apocalyptic evil would be it. That may be where Glenn Beck’s carnival act went wrong.

Beck is feeling no pain. He rode the Ailes/FOX nag for all its worth.

Gather round the radio all ye vacuous children and fill the hollow space between thine ears. For JB lives. Yes! Lives in your auditory canal echoing endless inanities ad infinitum.

We’ve not heard the last of Mr Beck. He may get his own show or even start up a network on his own.

Oh yeah!!! And can anyone imagine that blowhard Lush Bimbo getting canned too?  I hope he has a major meltdown and blows a fuse on the air…. please God, just a good two minute tirade from that bubble head and perhaps those minions believing his lying and twisting tongue can hopefully SNAP OUT of their loyal trance.

O’Reilly has had his hasty, haughty and very naughty hootin’ sessions ‘off camera,’ yet that sucker is still sucking in stagnant shill smoke.

This means victory for sanity.

Wonder which new recovering loser will replace this contemptuous lackey?

Most likely an even more radically insane boob.

Does this mean “freedom of religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them” are not “going to come under the ropes” in 2011?

It is not coincidental that the declining viewer demographics of Beck’s show match exactly, inversely, the increasing death rates of mentally-challenged psychotics in those age groups for the 2010-2011 periods surveyed. The fact that Beck’s audience is dying is not necessarily indicative that he is personally responsible. Although it could be argued….
