President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton honor the Benghazi victims at the Transfer of Remains Ceremony at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on Sept. 14, 2012. U.S. Department of State

Just in time for election year, the FBI has lassoed a suspect in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya that killed four American citizens, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

The detainee, Ahmed Abu Khatallah, will soon be brought to U.S. courts to be tried, as CNN reported Tuesday:

Abu Khatallah, who faces three federal criminal charges, will be tried in U.S. courts, said Attorney General Eric Holder.

[...] “We retain the option of adding additional charges in the coming days,” Holder said. “Even as we begin the process of putting (Abu Khatallah) on trial and seeking his conviction before a jury, our investigation will remain ongoing as we work to identify and arrest any co-conspirators.”

President Obama marked the occasion by declaring that Abu Khatallah’s arrest represented “a message to the world, that when Americans are attacked, no matter how long it takes, we will find those responsible and we will bring them to justice.”
