Ethics Panel Finds Wrongdoing by Rangel, Sources Say

The House Ethics Committee isn’t known for throwing its own to the wolves, but word is that Rep. Charlie Rangel, the subject of a two-year investigation, could get slammed.

Those anonymous sources that get quoted everywhere are telling media outlets, including The New York Times, that an investigatory subcommittee has found evidence of shenanigans.

Shenanigans or not, the regular House panel, famous for developing some of the world’s most charitable admonishments, has yet to have its say.

Update: The Washington Post has some updates here.

New York Times:

The investigative subcommitee did not disclose any details about the nature of the violations that it found evidence, but one House official who has been briefed on the findings said that they included some of the most serious allegations that had been examined.

“All I know is that it was a majority of them,” the House official said, asking not to be identified as the ruling is supposed to remain confidential for one week.A lawyer involved in Mr. Rangel’s defense, who also asked not to be named, disputed that characterization, adding that the case is not over yet.

Rangel’s alleged violations may include getting a sweetheart deal on New York apartments, performing a legislative favor in exchange for a hefty donation and not reporting income on a Dominican villa.  —PZS

hello. if there was ever any guy begging for a full metal jacket facial solution, for his uncontrollable delight in abusing people: this is the fellow that gives street justice a good name. and i truly mean that in a good way. these crooks get where they are from enough bad vices of others, in their back pocket: to stink up a swamp. his fine will not change his hopes, he has everything he wants, way more than he needs. that this human waste represents our government and business as usual, and was a necessary component of this administration: very poorly reflects our entire system, here; and around the world.

I noticed you changed the picture accompanying the article. Much more flattering.

PatHenry:

I posted a comment regarding the Tea Party racist flap. In it I asked, “What about the New Black Panther Party dustup?” The response I got from several of your fellow travelers was, “Quit changing the subject.”

“BTW, what ever happened to Jane Harmans offer of favors to known Israeli spies via the FBI wiretapping?”

Quit changing the subject.

I don’t believe there is one multiple term congressperson who isn’t involved in some sort of doubledealing.

Until we reform campaign financing,  our system will remain broken.

BTW, what ever happened to Jane Harmans offer of favors to known Israeli spies via the FBI wiretapping?
