Eric Cantor Exploits Disaster, Pushing Budget Cuts

The No. 2 GOP leader in the House says additional funds for FEMA will have to be matched by budget cuts, and we know from past experience what that means: less funding for programs that assist the poor and elderly without a hope of raising taxes. Michael “Heckuva Job” Brown thinks it’s a good idea.

You remember Brownie from his tenure at FEMA. Unless he’s giving advice on how to let New Orleans drown and then resign, his is not the voice of reason.

FEMA revealed earlier that it is already scaling back its operations over funding concerns.

The Republican-led House has offered the agency $3.65 billion over the next two years—provided cuts are made elsewhere.  —PZS

Reuters:

Washington’s never-ending budget battle threatened to snarl the recovery from Hurricane Irene as a top Republican said on Monday that any federal aid will have to be offset by spending cuts elsewhere.

“Yes there’s a federal role, yes we’re going to find the money. We’re just going to make sure that there are savings elsewhere,” Representative Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, told Fox News.

How much more would FEMA get were Cantor and Paul (both Pauls far as this
goes) to be fired? It’s not as though they serve any purpose, and speaking of
government waste…how about some real cost-cutting?

They’d be fine once comfy in their survivalist bunkers and so long as they kept
one eye open for squirrels (though a fully automatic might tend to blow away
more of the squirrel than desirable when food is the objective), black
helicopters and immigrants. Not to forget the Federal Reserve.

Come to think of it, they’d have to do a lot more work than ever before. Be
good for ‘em; maybe they’d finally learn what it’s like to have to make some
kind of miserly living in the world they claim to want. At least until they got
too old to move around so easily, at which point, tough shit, as they’d then be
on their own just having to deal with it, since no “entitlements” for them. Good, since that much more for people really in need.

Cantor needs to lose his health care and then get cancer, COPD, a hernia, brain mold (oh, has that already) and a divorce - oh fleas would be good, too.  Would really like to meet this jerk.

Is it not a pity that there is no opposition party that would stand up and decry this partisan and rather heartless nonsense?

A real pity that.

Let a tree bring down the power in Cantor’s neighborhood, and a rising river flood HIS house and you’ll see how fast this hypocrite changes his song and DEMANDS federal aid for his poor town.
