Elizabeth Warren Bags $3 MillionPosted on Oct 10, 2011
The consumer advocate is off to a great start in her bid to defeat the other Democratic primary challengers and Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown to retake Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. Warren raised $3 million in the last quarter—double Brown’s haul. But Brown has been at this for much longer and, according to Reuters, already has $10.5 million in the bank. True to her progressive appeal, Warren’s campaign is people-powered, with most of her donations coming in small amounts. That’s no surprise given how she made a name for herself watchdogging big money interests. —PZS

It would please me very much to see Ms. Warren take up where Ted Kennedy left off. There’s a huge void where his dynamic liberal voice was once heard, and it needs to be replaced by one with equal or better understanding of what causes the problems in our nation. We need her voice to fill the room, to speak against what’s being done to the 99% in this country. She and her platform have my support.

You say most of Warren’s donations are in small
amounts. You could probably say that of nearly any
candidate, including those in the GOP. It’s the few
in number but whopping in dollar term donations that
matter. Which may be why Obama—with his enormous
obligation to the financial industry—has been such
a lousy president.
I’m not saying this is true of Warren. More

if they are few in number.

Re: Robespierre115
Please.
You must assume that I was born yesterday (which I
wasn’t by the way). Your OVER THE TOP assessment
would be comical if it didn’t reek of Glen Beck.
Bark up someone elses tree will ya.
The “all Dems are no good” mantra won’t fly with me.
Report thisAnd Elizabeth Warren is AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THAT.
You are so bogus.

@outraged, your naivety is touching, but at least your heart is in the right place.
When it starts looking like this, then expect many of the current celebrities and “liberals” cheering the movement on to run and hide:

Hopefully, THE PEOPLE have awoken. It sure looks
that way. And all the money in the world can’t top
that. I think she’ll win…. by a landslide.
Good for her. Thankfully she’s willing to step up
and fight. What is it that tells me she won’t NEED 10
million dollars to win…..?
Did you hear about the “Occupy Wall Street”
movement that is MOVING EVERYONE….......
VOTE.

QUOTE, Reuters’ article:
“The consumer advocate is off to a great start in her bid to defeat the other Democratic primary challengers… Progressive groups, including MoveOn.org, have thrown fund-raising muscle behind Warren”
___________________
It was MoveOn.org that persuaded people that Obama would bring “change” to believe in, and then predictably delivered nothing the gullible believers hoped for.
If Elizabeth Warren was real she wouldn’t be — couldn’t be — a corporate party Democrat. She wouldn’t run as a Democrat. She would stand against the two principle compromised candidates the corporate party will offer. An electorate that self-restricts itself to only electing this or that corporate party candidate is an electorate that wastes elections — an electorate that refuses to use elections for the good purposes they should be used for.
Our young are facing the prospect of human extinction. It’s time to stop advocating for consumers, and starting advocating for species survival… including our own.

We need to be suspicious about these claims about politicians mostly being funded by “the people” and in “small amounts,” Obama also peddled that same bit of propaganda during his campaign. Plus we need to remain suspicious of any candidate who refuses to work outside of the two dominant, corporate-owned parties.

I love Elizabeth Warren, too. But this story illustrates one of the main causes of the

solicit or accept millions of dollars of “campaign donations.” It’s bribery, and it
should be illegal. Corporations will always out spend citizens and corporate
sponsored candidates will usually win.
