Editor Apologizes for ‘Embarrassing’ Anti-Muslim RemarkPosted on Sep 13, 2010
Islamophobia alert: Martin Peretz, editor of The New Republic magazine, expressed something very unfortunate about Muslims recently (actually, he wrote more than one shameful something), and now he’s contrite about it, sort of. Peretz took to The New Republic’s website Monday to discuss what he said and what he is and isn’t sorry about, noting that even though he basically suggested that Muslims shouldn’t have First Amendment rights, he’s still very concerned about “the dangers of Islamism” and wishes “certain politicians” would be more alert to same. —KA

“I do not wish upon Muslim Americans the sorts of calumnies that were endured by Italian Americans in connection with Sacco and Vanzetti and Jewish Americans in connection with communism.”
Huh? Is this idiot (The New Republican as my husband calls it) equating Sacco and Vanzetti and the CPUSA with murdering civilians? The more I read about McCarthyism in the U.S. the more I believe it was largely founded on anti-Semitism and the rage American Nazi sympathizers felt about our joining the wrong side in WWII.

Peter:
I am saddened by the depth of the fear, ignorance and mean-spiritedness displayed by your comments. I hope and pray that you will learn to understand why your comments are wrong even if all your facts were correct (which they are not), and to have enough humility to offer an apology - not just to Muslims, but to all of us, since your words and attitude offend me (a non-Muslim) as well.
Peace.

Wipe that foam away from your rabid lips, Peter Knopfler. And stop humiliating yourself by displaying your ignorance.

As a proud Muslim, I refuse to accept your fake apology Martin Peretz! You’re an advocate of the devil with a Nazi mentality, and humanity will be better off without a scum like you!
The saddest part of this is that there will some crack nuts who will defend your right to emit such suffocating poisonous gases in public places. The problem with those is like someone unclean and savage miscreant insisting to empty his garbage in the public streets for everyone to smell and see!

What do you say to a religion where the Leader, at 54 years old, already married, takes the virginity of nine year old Ishia, I raised 2 girls at nine they are BABBIES. Or how about this, Killed the father, mother, brother and then, Mohammed raped Sophia, all this in one day. Know the History, face the truth, You can`t insult Islam, they do a better job on their own. Just the threat of burning Koran, Christian people killed and churches destroyed. People are Afraid of Islam and hide behind their fear and scream tolerance, moderation. No such thing in Islam. Islam sees moderation as half assed not going all the way for G_D-Allah, moderation means not good enough, lack of committment, so Muslims beleive, there is no Moderation for Islam-Muslims concerning Koran, moderation is not going all the way. That`s why you don`t hear from moderate Muslims , there are none Wake up to this fact. The Manhattan Mosque is a charade to attract Radical Muslims, so the CIA-FBI-Homeland Security, can keep an EYE on them. Same people on the foreign council affairs, sponsor with MONEY to the Mosque FOLLOW the money. There are no Islam Insults no apology necessary!
