‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Repeal Headed for a VotePosted on Dec 8, 2010
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid postponed a test vote Wednesday while he worked on a deal with Republican Sen. Susan Collins, but he earlier said he believed he could get the 60 votes needed to end the military’s ban on openly gay soldiers. Collins, meanwhile, said any effort to end the ban before the Senate decided whether to extend tax cuts for the wealthy would fail, TPM reports. Seventy percent of Americans favor ending the ban on openly gay soldiers. Lawmakers looking to dodge the issue have said that a vote should wait for the results of a Pentagon review. That review has since concluded that the risks of ending “don’t ask, don’t tell” are low and “The reality is that there are gay men and lesbians already serving in today’s U.S. military and most service members recognize this. ... Much of the concern about open service is driven by misperceptions and stereotypes about what it would mean.” —PZS

yeah, it’s just a civil rights issue, not REAL
news…who cares?
so untold numbers of young men and women are having
their lives ruined because of an aspect of themselves
they have no control over
who cares that we are kicking soldiers out of our
military even as we’re engaged in two wars.
like martin luther king jr. said, “an injustice

DADT right now should be on the back burner. The more important matter is the agreement to extend the tax cuts. The GOP has Obama in a barrel because the president and the current Congress has no choice but to extend the tax cuts. If they fail to approve it the Democrats will take the blame for everybody’s taxes going up and then when the GOP has control of the House in 2011, they will then extend the tax cuts retroactively and take the credit for reducing everyone’s taxes. Personally, I am part of the upper middle class and I don’t give a fuck about “millionaire’s taxes as long as mine don’t go up!!!!! Whomever extends the tax cuts gets my vote——you always vote with your wallet——at least I do!

What’s a matter, slow newsday out of Hollywood? No Charlie Sheen stories ? How about Real Housewives from, wherever they’re from this week. DADT is just another non-issue for the masses, that the talking hair-dos on CNN can pontificate on ad nauseum. Another example of the lack of real news from the MSM.
