DNC Taps Wasserman Schultz as Chair

The Democratic National Committee has picked Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz as its new chair—a choice that Politico frames as one to rally the party base rather than court voters on the fence as the DNC gears up for campaign 2012.  —KA

Politico:

The final choice came down to Wasserman Schultz and former Ohio governor Ted Strickland, the sources said.

Wasserman Schultz becomes the third female DNC chief in history and the first in over 15 years.

The choice of Wasserman Schultz over Strickland represents a party head whose strength will be in rallying the base rather than reaching out to heartland swing voters.

It also heads off the possibility of a revolt by the party’s base over abortion issues: Wasserman Schultz is a strong supporter of abortion rights, whereas Strickland’s record on the issue is mixed.

It’s amazing and despicable that the selection of anyone with talent who happens to be Jewish immediately brings the ire of the anti-Semitic bigots out from under the rocks.

Debbie Wasserman is a tough, mean bitch, and that’s EXACTLY what the Democrats need to counter the GOP’s mean bitches like Michelle Bachmann and Newt Gingrich.

So, whether this will translate into the Democratic National Committee putting their weight behind pro-choice Democrats and the pro-choice cause, I don’t know. But at least the face of the DNC and, hopefully, their voice in the media on lots of issues will be an awesome pro-choice female leader.

The Democratic Party chose this beloved liberal to sell all the compromise and computation of the last four years.  This way if things don’t work out they can blame the left of the party.

Center of Mass, I picture Molly Ivins too comfortably esconced in the next life to come back to this one.  But I’m sure she’s raising a ruckus wherever she is.

“Perhaps if they resurrected Molly Ivins to run the party I might be convinced to vote for Barack Obama.”

To heck with the party.  Zombie Molly Ivins for president!

Good Luck! I remember listening to her speak several times during the bleak Bush years. She was passionate and seemed very progressive. When the Democrats were to make their push to take more seats in Congress in 2008 what came out of her mouth made me ill. She admitted in public she could not go after Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-18) because she was her friend.  If you know Ros-Lehtinen’s position on any given issue, friend or no friend, her duty as a democrat was to make sure a democrat would win that seat. Does anyone really think that Wasserman-Schultz will be effective in her job?

She has a tough row to hoe….

Or to put it in the hollow double speak, of our oppressors….some negative perceptions of Mr. Obama..

Mainly that he is a liar, that his promises mean nothing, that he betrayed those that voted for him the first time, that he has continued the whole sale handing of the government over to the plutocracy, that he chanelled government funds into proping up Wall Street, that he appointed Goldmen Sacks men to run the treasury department, that sold out the Gulf Oil Spill Victims, allowed torture of political prisoners to continue, etc., etc., etc….

The plutocracy owns the government, but they can’t govern, so we have no government, just a rabble of crooks, who have sold out their country men for a few pieces of gold….

It looks unlikely that independents will vote for Obama again, so they won’t even try to get them, and unless the Republicans run someone who is extremely hideous, we’re looking at Republican majorities in both in the Senate and the House….

Better to Dump Obama now…

It you really cared about this country, instead of maintaining your delusions of power you would…

Slim to none on both counts.

She is the choice of AIPAC and can be counted on both as a congresswoman and as DNC head to always make the interests of the Zionist apartheid state paramount. Since the entire congressional Dimnocrappy Party is owned by AIPAC she is a good choice. Too bad the party never makes the interests of American working people paramount.

She may be a better choice than Hadassah Lieberman, but not by much.
