A week after former police officer Christopher Dorner is alleged to have begun killing those people he reportedly views as his enemies, authorities in Southern California—and even actor Charlie Sheen—are doing everything they can to bring the elusive man out of the shadows.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced a $1 million reward for information leading to Dorner’s capture. Sheen, who was mentioned in a manifesto attributed to Dorner, released a video inviting the accused gunman to call and “figure out together how to end this thing.”

Dorner believes he was wrongfully dismissed from the police force, and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck has ordered a review of the case. The chief has also promised to meet with the accused killer if he surrenders.

Dorner was last thought to be in the Big Bear mountain resort area about two hours east of downtown Los Angeles, but authorities have been unable to pick up his trail.

In two separate incidents, officers protecting people believed to be on a kill list shot at and injured innocent people they presumably mistook for the gunman.
