Derivatives Bill Gets Traction in SenatePosted on Apr 21, 2010
Financial reform is the next big task on Congress’ list of action items, and on Wednesday the Senate Agriculture Committee made progress by approving a bill by committee Chair Blanche Lincoln that targets the derivatives market. Bonus: There was even one Republican, Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley, who voted for Lincoln’s bill, but not without making some tentative noises about his potential vote on a broader reform measure. —KA

Now let’s see if I have this right about Senator Lincoln. All along the dimmos, mostly her, could not get anything right, now she champions a watered down bill to regulate derivatives and has all those smart dimmos applauding her. Why would that be? Oh!It’s an election year and those smart dimmos don’t want a repug to win her seat. Does Arkansas not have a moderate repug?

As a semi-demi Blanch voted for immunity for the

card check and helped out on universal health care as
little as possible. Her Fox trained/Bible thumping
constituents have her straddling the fence to the
extent that she now has picket crotch. Arkansans are
not quite the rightie zealots as Okies or Texans are
but there are very little differences in them
politically…. especially the Southern Baptists there.
Mr. Halter will have my vote this Fall, however….
Agri Committee Chair be damned.

Nothing like a viable progressive challenger to un blue dog Blanche - at least in this case.
