One of the Senate’s most conservative Democrats now faces a primary challenge on her left flank. Blanche Lincoln, who betrayed the unions that had supported her and who had bitterly fought off a public option in health care reform, was already headed for a tough race.

The White House has tried to block challengers, ostensibly to strengthen Democratic incumbents going into the midterm elections. But the president’s unconditional support may have helped open the way for these conservative legislators to throw sugar in his gas tank.

As David Sirota wrote in a September 2009 column: “Without vigorous primaries forcing Democratic legislators to face Democratic voters, those legislators feel free to defy the president’s Democratic agenda.”  —PZS

AP via Google:

Arkansas Lt. Gov. Bill Halter announced Monday that he’s seeking the Democratic nomination for Lincoln’s seat, becoming the first in the party to formally challenge Lincoln and underscoring a schism in an election year shaping up to be difficult for the party in power.

“Washington is broken. It’s working for the special interests, not Arkansas families,” Halter said in a statement.

Eight Republicans already have announced interest in the Senate seat as Lincoln’s popularity wanes in the GOP-leaning state. She has been under has been under pressure in Washington to support President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.

When I worked for Walmart(Sam’s Club), there was an inside story told among employees that said “If old Sam Walton knew how they were running his company, he would turn over in his grave”. Then they fired me. I deserved it, I told that story many times, I was insubordinate. Well, Blanche must have heard old Sam IS dead and this is what they do now. She doesn’t want to be fired by Walmart. Blanche, you are a woman and Walmart doesn’t have a very favorable record with female employees. They will get you when they’re ready, when they’re done using you, trust me and many others who have been screwed by Walmart, no pun intended. Actually, it may already be too late. I hear that the AFL-CIO has contributed $3-mil to Halter’s campaign against you. The WH publicly says they are still(?)supporting you. Maybe the kiss of death for you in that State. Maybe if you kept the people of your State at the fore-front instead of corporations(?)you would’ve been better off. You can fool the people just so long, and nobody likes to be taken for granted maybe like a woman with Walmart.

By all means vote this DLC Republican Lite cooperator with the Republicans against a democratic agenda out in the Primaries.  It is absolutely necessary to get all the DLC Republican toadies out of the Democratic Party.  Blanche Lincoln is one, and the Republicans Lite can be removed one Republican Lite at a time.  Actually they aren’t light,  they vote as hard core Right-Wing Republican EXTREMISTS on the Democratic Party’s side and they need to get on over with the Republicans where they belong.

David Sirota needs to take off his rose colored
glasses. The president doesn’t have a Democratic
agenda.

His agenda is entirely corporatist.
