‘Day of Departure’ in EgyptPosted on Feb 4, 2011
On a Friday being called the “day of departure” for Hosni Mubarak by anti-government protesters in Egypt, the U.S. government joined in by pressuring the embattled leader to step aside immediately in favor of a transitional government. Day of Departure——does that refer to Mubarak or the protesters?! The turmoil has virtually shut down the internal Egyptian economy. The only thing running is the Suez Canal. Fortunately “Eastern” populations can take a lot of punishment. In the west, if the supermarkets run out of TP, there’s whole scale panic!
