China Warns Obama Against Meeting With Dalai LamaPosted on Feb 2, 2010
The Chinese government has issued a warning to the White House that there will be consequences of a diplomatic nature if President Barack Obama goes ahead with a rumored plan to meet the Dalai Lama in Washington later this month. A representative from the Chinese Communist Party hinted vaguely at undesirable outcomes if Obama spends face time with the Tibetan Buddhist leader, claiming that China will “take corresponding action to make relevant countries see their mistakes,” which certainly doesn’t sound ideal. —KA

Relax folks ... Obama won’t meet Dalai Lama? why? because when Chinese own half of your country, you don’t have a say in the matter who you meet or what policy you pursue.
Remember beggers can’t be choosy. Empire is over. Get ready for serious beatdown.

Global geopolitics - why would the western countries insist on meeting a former slave owner and terrorist turned moral leader? Just to irradiate China and to make her look bad. If you don’t believe Dala Lama was a slave owner and terrorist, just Google him and see what you could find. You hypocrites!

This whole sticky problem about who “owns” what has got to be faced sooner rather than later. Nationalism is a dead duck if the human race is to survive. Ditto exploitation of the “littler” by the “bigger”. Nobody knows how to do it, but we have plenty of hints if we would just try them out and perfect our skills instead of bumbling on into death and destruction.
Report thisAs to China and Tibet: If it’s water, and China is richer, let them buy the water—if Tibet has it to sell. Or let Tibet give them some if they have any extra, out of sheer generosity as fellow humans. Oh, no that’ll never happen, Maybe not, but it could.
As to “fuck” China and that sort of thing—it is utter nonsense—although people who say that kind of thing might even be foolish enough to try to do it! But as a humane foreign policy that improves the world it doesn’t quite pass muster—to get a little militarism in there somehow so I don’t seem like a “...ing” pacifist!

To Gerard,
You are of base, but not totally.
I have as a young men visited Tibet, and other countrys in Aziê.
If you know the history of China, you will learn, that they where always more or less agresief with their nabers, they killed lots of small tribes, who where in their way, of expanding.
They the Chinees, need every thing to stay on top of the world, specialy water, and that they have Tibetan, they are already cannaling water to China.
Wath you wanth is that every country or men keep quiet, don’t give the smallest critique on China’s politics, of bassing and taking even steeling of other countrys, so that this can go on and on.
I think that the Dali Lama must use every thing and every body and every circomstance to geth his people and country free, you can not as an human with some self respect let small etnics, as the germans say AUS RADIEREN, the Jews put them selfs constant in the picture, are the Tibetans no humans
And I rather fight a war for freedom, as for dirty oil money, we are already slaves of the capital, and do you wanth to be a slave from this so called communist-kapitalist gangster system, where an human has no valeur at all, no Gerard I hope you are with me in this thinking.
Salutation Johannes

A friend here (Shanghai) said in outrage the other day, “You can’t say things
against the government!”
I replied, “Maybe you can’t but the rest of the world can, and it will.”
In a nutshell this is what drives the Chinese leadership crazy, makes them nasty,
Report thisdefensive and ultimately ridiculous. China is big and flush with new money, but
it’s not the whole world and there’s not a damn thing they can do about that.

lustering, posturing and name-calling won’t pass for foreign policy much longer if the world is to stay in one piece.
Report thisIf the Dalai Lama is smart he will stop letting himself be used to tickle the tiger’s nose for the benefit of the Republican Party. And if the Chinese government is halfway competent it will give the tiny country of Tibet the right of self-determination. Surely there’s no great satisfaction in a huge country trampling a tiny one. A little give here, a little give there, and vindictiveness will die a natural death. I hope that’s not too much to ask, but the enmities run deep and nobody has tried very hard to reduce them. Am I completely off base?

“... certainly threaten trust and co-operation between China and the United States…”
You could put the amount of trust that exists between these two in a thimble and still get an echo.
The only reason there’s any co-operation is because one side or the other is MAKING MONEY.

Why does the Chinese government continue to call itself “communist”? They are mercantile tyrants. They should change their name to The Chinese Republican Party or The Chinese Democratic Party.
