Sandra Fluke.

Sandra Fluke, the women’s rights activist who was thrust into the national spotlight after Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut” for advocating easier access to birth control, gave an impressive prime-time address at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday in which she succinctly explained and dissected the Republicans’ “War on Women.” And once again, conservatives leveled the familiar charge that Fluke wants the government to pay for her to have sex.

Let’s get one thing straight first: Contrary to what Limbaugh said, just because a woman wants to have easier access to contraceptives does not make her a slut or a prostitute.

But in order to promote a radical agenda that would deny women access to something so basic as birth control, conservatives took to Twitter after Fluke’s speech to, once again, repeat the disgusting falsehood that she wants the government to “pay” for her social life and to bash her for “whining” about it on a national stage.

Here’s a sampling of tweets that Think Progress spotted:

Coulter also sent out another controversial tweet about Fluke, this one involving the ex-Georgetown law student and former President Bill Clinton:

Twitter wasn’t the only platform conservatives used to attack Fluke, by the way. Cartoonist Gary McCoy, who ripped Fluke after the Limbaugh controversy, also drew another misogynistic cartoon after her convention speech.
