Sigmund Freud famously wrote about the fabled “vagina dentata,” or toothed vagina—a symbol of terror and fascination embedded in the folklore of many a culture. Now, a South African doctor has taken that idea and used it for what she hopes will be a good end as a potential rape-deterrent device. —KA

Seems to me he will be to preoccupied with the intense pain and seeing he needs medical care before he bleeds out to do much else. But that’s part of the risk. And he won’t be able to do it ever again with his own “knob” at least.

As most others have said, if you are over-powered and isolated enough for an attacker to get as far as penetrating you, then presumably you are pretty much helpless now and the reprisals could be horrendous - it doesn’t seem exactly the best situation to launch an attack from. Do you REALLY want to be in that situation? I don’t think I would. This sounds more like massaging a fantasy rather than any kind of practical solution for anything. The idea of being able to make our vaginas bite might feel good, but back in the real world, I don’t think they are a very effective weapon!
Plus of course, can’t you just imagine the possibilities for abusing this thing? If anyone who gets stuck with one of these is automatically a rapist, then just imagine the seductions and traps – it could almost become a sick sport! “Let’s see how many poor sods we can bite – and bonus points if they get arrested!” There’s a horror movie right there! Heheh.
Though actually, as for ‘can only be removed by a doctor’, i’ll believe that when i see it!

Never hurts to have backup, and I am for open carry but not only for guns but any weapon that you feel comfortable carrying and using. So don’t sell it short.

Night-Gaunt, It may be invented in S.A. but if it gets distributed in the U.S. it will make the money here.
I could care less about this macabre invention, the women in my family pack heat and can shoot as good as me if not better.
As you know I am a firm believer in concealed carry and 2nd Amendment rights.

would have to go to a doctor in order to get it removed, therefore it would allow
for doctors to identify rapists.

Excellent idea! It is unfortunate that girls and women will need to wear them in many places but it makes more sense than not doing it because of its implications as some critics say. Just like wearing seat belts or helmets.
I just hope that most rapists will be ignorant of it for a long time.
Fear can be use to temper ones actions. Just so long as it remains in control. This is protection, this is preparation, not mindless fear mongering.

OK so the woman wants to be attached to this jerk until help arrives? Also, if she can take it out, the rapist can make her take it out at knife-point. If that doesn’t work, try a different door. This is so ridiculous.

When I thought I have heard all the nonsense of modern times to solve human problems, here comes this one!
Rape in itself is an expression of violence by deviant and sick people. When this proposed device will cause extreme pain to the rapist, it will cause him to become even more violent, and instead of just raping his woman target and fleeing the scene, he would kill her.
Castrating rapists and isolating them in special prisons is a more reasonable solution to this problem!

His arms are still free while he is ‘stuck.’
My only concern is for the victim’s safety while the rapist is ‘stuck’ inside. In desperation to get away, and as punishment for the pain, will the abuser hit, strangle, or otherwise continue to abuse the women, maybe to death?

I suppose this will only work in countries or societies were it is a crime to rape women and where women are almost equal to men. Possibly Sweden?
Maybe they should issue these to the 79 Virgins, so when the morons go to the great beyond they will be in for a nice surprise!
Abusers of women may be receiving some equitable abuse of their own, what a novel idea!

I think Rollzone nailed this one on the head , so to speak. This doctor seems to not factor in that there’s alot of these “rapists” who enraged by her contrasption would kill the girl in a blind rage before anything else which does seem to dilute its effectiveness somewhat.

hello. oh yeah, the great fear of rape being fought with fear. not fear- malicious will to counter an over aggressive act with painful consequence. and when the man then turns and breaks the woman’s skull open with his fist, or can only manage to draw a weapon and kill the woman- was this technique better than a chastity belt?
