Christie on Romney’s ‘Gifts’ Comment, Biden on ‘Parks & Recreation,’ and More

‘Constructive Meeting’: Congressional leaders are calling Friday’s initial meeting about the “fiscal cliff” with President Obama “constructive.” While no details have been revealed about the discussions, there are already signs of possible compromise: Democrats have said they’re willing to cut spending while Republicans have agreed to be flexible on tax hikes. Obamacare Rollout: Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker is breaking ranks with the nine GOP state lawmakers who support legislation that would allow police to arrest federal officials who try to implement President Obama’s health care law there. Walker said he does not support arresting the federal officials. (Read more)

McCain Miffed: Arizona Sen. John McCain became visibly upset on Thursday when he was asked by CNN why he skipped a classified briefing about the deadly terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. McCain snapped back: “Because I have the right as a senator to have no comment and who the hell are you to tell me I can or not?” McCain has been criticial of President Obama for his handling of the attack in Libya, which resulted in four deaths. Christie Sounds Off: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the recent subject of GOP criticism for praising President Obama for his handling of Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, says he disagrees with Mitt Romney’s assertion that the president won re-election because of Obama’s “gifts” to minority and young voters. The Republican said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he agreed with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal that Romney’s comments were “wrong.” Christie added, “Do I wish he hadn’t said those things? Of course. But on the other hand, I’m not going to bury the guy for it.” (Read more)

Booker’s Decision: Newark Mayor Cory Booker said he’s pushing back his decision on whether or not he will run for governor of New Jersey because of Hurricane Sandy. However, he said he wouldn’t keep Democrats waiting too much longer. Booker is seen as the party’s best hope to unseat Republican Chris Christie next year. (Read more)

Lungren Loses: Nine days after the election, The Associated Press has called Democrat Ami Berra the winner of California’s 3rd Congressional District. Berra has defeated veteran GOP Rep. Dan Lungren in what was a rematch of the 2010 election. So far, Lungren has not conceded. Democrats also picked up another House seat when Republican Rep. Brian Bilbray conceded his race to Democrat Scott Peters.(Read more)
