The American commander in charge of Baghdad’s Camp Cropper, which holds about 3,300 detainees, has been arrested by U.S. forces for a range of alleged offenses. Lt. Col. William Steele stands accused of providing a phone to detainees, having an inappropriate relationship with both an interpreter and a detainee’s daughter and mishandling classified information, among other charges.

BBC:

The commander of a major US military prison in Iraq has been arrested for offences including aiding the enemy.

Why wouldn’t we expect criminal activity during a criminal occupation? It’s just one more example of how this war and the occupation of Iraq are totally out of control. Who is policing the police? And what kind of demented opportunist have been put in charge in a situation so dire? It seems across the board, from the president to the prison guards, that there are no rules are boundaries that can not be broken or crossed. This is just one guy that has been caught, so let’s really imagine the abuse and misuse of authority that occurs there on a daily basis. This occupation needs to end! And those that are truly responsible for the U.S. being there in the first place should be held accountable for the war crimes being committed. Trials at the Hague are looking more likely day by day.

Steele may be yet another example of unconventional casualties of the foolish and tragic invasion and occupation of Iraq.

We must consider not only our troops who have been killed and horribly wounded, but the other psychological casualties. More on this in:
