 ‘Captured’ Gadhafi Son Surprises ReportersPosted on Aug 22, 2011As a reminder that we know less about what is actually happening in Libya than may otherwise be texted, tweeted and reported, Moammar Gadhafi’s son Saif al-Islam, who had been reported captured by the opposition, dropped in on reporters at a hotel in Tripoli to refute their work.

Thanks Expat and Tropic Girl. I’ve been following this as much as possible on Counter Punch and in the Latin American news which is less Corporate controlled than ours. It is impossible to get one truthful article in the MSM, at least in my experience.
It’s frustrating, because it takes hours checking one source after another trying to see who is reporting what and why.
The scariest news of the day was in one of the US financial diatribes: Now that we’ve got rid of the problem in Libya, it’s time to take down Cuba - The 2 countries have some many things in common…
Those things probably include Medical Care, Free Education, Guaranteed housing and jobs and a low crime rate…
I did NOT read the article, I went looking for a BARF Bag instead!

tropicgirl is right on the money, so called progressives are a warmongering disgrace, as long as the new war agenda is pushed by NWO construct oreobama rather than bush (who was and is -also- a war criminal).
behold the naked aggression and invasion and looting of a sovereign nation…
what conclusions to be drawn?
there is absolutely no justice, nato initiated and perpetrated these crimes against humanity (bombing hospitals, water - electric plants, food warehouses,schools, university, verified and irrefutable) under the guise and cover of a couple ragtag al-cia-da operatives (the rebels - with new flags preprinted in uk). (actually tropicgirl, Hitler never stooped to this level of collective punishment against civilians, let us not forget the specialists as far as slaughtering civilians… remember Hiroshima Nagasaki and the fire bombing storms of Germany’s civilians and cities.)
the int’l tribunal is a sham, only victor’s justice. The nuremberg principles no longer (ever did?) apply.
the UN is but a sham and cover for western imperialism and crimes. “No fly zone”? Pleeeease!
the whole western msm imperialist media (regardless of country - al jazeera is in on it too, what do you expect, quatar, bahrain anyone?) is nothing but a propagandist tool revealed whereby not one single word it utters is true, only lies and manipulations from a to z, not a shred of truth (i.e Kadhafi’s son is captured). The only way to get information is by deconstructing the lies and seeing the overall strategy between the lines. (Some site do add balance: Global Research, Voltaire net, Prison Planet , etc… but with some caveats)
(Speaking of Voltaire and media manipulation recall Voltaire’s à propos quote: “Those who can make you believe absurdities can and will make you commit atrocities”)
Here is another certainty:
the forces of history never fail. For every extreme, there is always similarly extreme blowback. Sometimes it takes a while but it always occurs. And it will again. The sooner, the better. Time for a real, much more devastating 9-11.
to all the sheep in us and europe who allowed these crimes to be committed in their names (and israel - because in the end this is all for oil and the parasitic israel), someone soon will find a way to vaporize all you vermin. When it does occur don’t come crying,

Well, so much for these pathetic “progressives”. Truth is, they would watch Hitler invade Poland and just simply stand by, quoting lame sources…
These “progressives” are sickening, collaborators in an invasion as evil as Iraq, or any other. I can’t even stomach listening to anything they have to say.

Global Research correspondent Mahdi Nazemroaya, who is stationed in a
central Tripoli hotel with the international press, says the journalists are being
targeted by the rebels and the NATO forces that support them. While he is
speaking to RT, shooting can be heard. “They are specifically targeting the
areas where international journalists are, to sow panic here,” he argued. “NATO
has done all the heavy work. This is a NATO war. They heavily bombed cities
west of [Tripoli], they’ve bombed all night, without even 10 seconds of
stopping. They have bombed this entire city and NATO landed the insurgents
on the coast of Tripoli.”
But the city’s defenders are not pessimistic, continues Nazemroaya.
“The situation has gone tenser,” said Nazemroaya. “More members of the hotel
staff have returned with guns. Obviously they have been fighting. These are
volunteers, not soldiers. They returned with a picture which is not a picture of
loss and they are confident.”

Tripoli, Libya, Aug. 22, 2011, 1 AM CET– On Saturday evening, at 8pm, when
the hour of Iftar marked the breaking of the Ramadan fast, the NATO command
launched its “Operation Mermaid Dawn” against Libya.
The Sirens were the loudspeakers of the mosques, which were used to launch
Al Qaeda’s call to revolt against the Qaddafi government. Immediately the
sleeper cells of the Benghazi rebels went into action. These were small groups
with great mobility, which carried out multiple attacks. The overnight fighting
caused 350 deaths and 3,000 wounded.
The situation calmed somewhat on Sunday during the course of the day.
Then, a NATO warship sailed up and anchored just off the shore at Tripoli,
delivering heavy weapons and debarking Al Qaeda jihadi forces, which were led
by NATO officers.
Fighting stared again during the night. There were intense firefights. NATO
drones and aircraft kept bombing in all directions. NATO helicopters strafed
civilians in the streets with machine guns to open the way for the jihadis.
In the evening, a motorcade of official cars carrying top government figures
came under attack. The convoy fled to the Hotel Rixos, where the foreign press
is based. NATO did not dare to bomb the hotel because they wanted to avoid
killing the journalists. Nevertheless the hotel, which is where I am staying, is
now under heavy fire.
At 11:30pm, the Health Minister had to announce that the hospitals were full to
overflowing. On Sunday evening, there had been 1300 additional dead and
5,000 wounded.

At 1am, Khamis Qaddafi came to the Rixos Hotel personally to deliver weapons
for the defense of the hotel. He then left. There is now heavy fighting all around
the hotel.
