Cain Fields Another Accusation of Extramarital Sexual ActivitiesPosted on Nov 28, 2011
He has dismissed a prior accusation of sexual impropriety as the false claim of a “troubled” woman, but GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain may have a bigger problem on his hands with his latest potential scandal, instigated by one Ginger White, whom Cain’s camp tried to preempt Monday with the candidate’s own statement that he didn’t have a 13-year affair with her. Cain said his motivation in talking first about the impending report of long-term infidelity was to protect his family and head White off at the pass, and judging by his lawyer’s response, it was also an attempt to shut down any more chatter about the alleged affair. According to attorney Lin Wood, his client “has no obligation to discuss these types of accusations publicly with the media and he will not do so even if his principled position is viewed unfavorably by members of the media.” But is Wood right? What place, if any, do detailed investigations into possible sexual peccadillos of presidential candidates have in the broader picture of their suitability for the country’s top office? Yes, we’re really asking—feel free to sound off with your comments below. —KA

@IMax - P.S. Also, the sexual harassment charges are what should be focused on. Those are Sexual Abuse Crimes and should be carrying much more weight then a consensual affair.
The affair does come into play in regards to credibility for the claims of sexual harassment. Only in the sense that the man is the type to cheat or attempt to cheat on his wife. It proves a higher probability, and that IS important.

@IMax - I agree with you completely. What I should have clarified was that I meant someone who was parading around claiming to “be” pure, when they are not. Those types of candidates tend to condemn others for not being as “pious” as they are, when in fact they are just as “human” as everyone else and tend to have the same power/sex drive issues most people have that goes along with the drive for political office.

Cain’s mother has now come out with a charge that he once ate a popsicle as a child.
Cain denies this. He describes his mother as a troubled woman he thought was his friend.

Lilith, - Infidelity only counts in a champagne when the candidate is running on a “conservative morality” and “Pious” platform.
-
I see no problem with anyone who talks-up morals who happens also to display the same human frailties as every other human-being. I would hope everyone would talk of morals. Even those who are less than moral themselves.
A thief or burglar understands what she is doing is wrong. What would be worse is if that same thief fails to teach her children that stealing is wrong.

Even if these woman are lying and are tools of his opponents on the right (as some
Report thisare alleging) this man is history. He should never have been considered a viable
candidate; his lack of interest in presenting anything more than GOP rhetoric
makes him wholly unsuitable for the office of POTUS.

Infidelity only counts in a champagne when the candidate is running on a “conservative morality” and “Pious” platform. Infidelity seems to go hand in hand with the personality types who seek out power, especially political power.
I do not like the idea of it, nor those who cheat on their spouses, but it does not seems to be a measure of one’s ability to govern, nor represent those who elected them.
Sad to say the least, but definitely no one’s business, unless the candidate makes it an issue of their champagne, and or their opponent.
