George W. Bush White House / Eric Draper

The White House invited President Bush the second to join President Obama on his post-bin Laden tour of Ground Zero on Thursday, but W. skipped the ceremony in favor of maintaining a low profile.

Obama made do with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who had nice things to say about the president.

Politico:

Obama’s visit drew inevitable comparisons with President George W. Bush’s tour of the rubble a few days after the Sept. 11 attacks — when he grabbed a bullhorn and promised “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

Obama invited Bush to join him at ground zero. The former president declined because, according to a spokesman, he wanted to keep up the low profile he has maintained since leaving office.

Bush’s promise went the way of the coward. He changed the
enemy instead and went to Iraq after Saddam who did not attack
us.  He did not belong at ground zero. If there was intelligence
the attack was going to happen and he ignored it then this
should be investigated and revealed.

It’s a practical matter, The Dummy keeping a ‘low profile’. It greatly reduces the number of tomato seeds and egg-shell shards Laura has to pick off his suits.

I like the “Wants to keep a low profile” better than “Bush miffed that Obama’s getting all the credit”

Can’t have it both ways.  Keep a low profile. You cause less trouble that way.

Presidents get credit and blame for what happens on their watch.  IF you can’t deal with that, don’t become President.

The whole bush crime family have for the most part always
been friends with the bin ladens and the saudi rulers who I
believe helped bail little w out of his financial dire straights
somewhere back down the road, and surely people should well
remember w and the saudi prince walking together hand in
hand just like the lovers of each other that they are.
