Bush and Democrats to Hold Wheel-Spinning Session

President Bush is set to meet with members of Congress on Wednesday to try to work out a compromise on the Iraq spending bill. It’s not clear what they could possibly agree on, since Bush has said he won’t sign any legislation that calls for a withdrawal, and the essentially nonbinding timetable in the last measure was basically the least the Democrats could do to signal their opposition to the war.

AP via Yahoo:

WASHINGTON—President Bush meets today with Democrats and Republicans from Congress to work on an Iraq war funding measure both sides can accept.

Bush’s veto of an Iraq war spending bill that set timelines for U.S. troop withdrawals puts new pressure on Democrats in Congress to craft a compromise even as their caucus grows more fractious on the topic.

The party’s most liberal members, especially in the House, say they will vote against money for continuing the war if there’s no binding language on troop drawdowns. Bush and almost all congressional Republicans continue to insist on a spending bill with no strings attached on troop movements.

Even if The Deluded had signed the bill, it would NOT solve anything. The 800-lb. gorilla hidden past the talking points would have meant little change.

I am assuming the Blackwater mercentary army is compensated on a long-term contract. Which means 120,000 rent-a-thugs would stay in country and we could continue to provie security for them—and the U.S. staff of the largest embassy in the world, in a country that isn’t so big and really, since we trashed it, not much of anything except a problem and moral embarrassment.

The Democrats will cave. They always do. They don’t care any more than the Republicans do about The People. There is only one reasonable solution to the political problems of the U.S. government, and it ain’t going to come from those elected to fill their coffers.

Just let the butcher have all mighty power to continue his killing our troops and innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don’t override his veto, please !

I have zero faith in the spineless Democrats to confront the decider and do the right thing in putting an end to this nightmare.

They’ll cave and give the monster everything he wants to prolong the killing machine that is Iraq.

Hell, he knows they’re not going to impeach him, so what does he have to fear? Nothing.

That spoiled SOB has gotten his way and everything he’s wanted as long as he’s been alive.

Why should this be any different?

The Democrats will fold. They do not have the guts for a fight. Not even when 70% of the American people agree with them. They are negotiating with a President who has a 29% approval rating.Hitlers was higher in 1944.What the Democrats do not realize is that in not fighting for the America people they will cast themselves in the feckless role.If you cannot fight for something you believe in when everybody is on your side when will you fight.
