Connecting With CubaPosted on Apr 2, 2010
In a meeting that could signify shifting tides between the U.S. and Cuba, Cuba’s foreign minister has met with Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff at a U.N. forum on Haiti relief, the first public meeting of such high-level officials in years. A spokesperson for the U.S. quickly declared that the countries weren’t in agreement on much in the chat, save the need to provide aid for the earthquake-devastated nation of Haiti. The U.S. and Cuba have had no formal diplomatic connection since the Kennedy administration. —JCL

Ry Cooder, with his “Buena Vista Social Club”, did more for improving US-Cuba relations than all the political haggling in a hundred years. How come?
Politics divides people; cultural exchange brings people together.
In political matters, both sides want to “win.”
In cultural matters, both sides want to learn.
