British Government Warned That Iraq War Would Be IllegalPosted on Jan 26, 2010
Before the invasion of Iraq, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw’s top legal adviser warned that the use of force was “contrary to international law” and “would amount to the crime of aggression.” According to testimony in the U.K.‘s Iraq inquiry, Straw allegedly rejected the advice as “dogmatic,” saying “international law was pretty vague.” The secretary would go on to seek and win a more favorable second opinion from the country’s attorney general just days before invasion. —PZS

It is remarkable that there is this pretence that these crimes happened because the law was vague, the intent was vague.
I see nothing vague. The laws were passed to keep the practices common amongst countries during WWII of arresting people without cause and mistreating them thru lack of basic needs and worse by active and malignant abuse physical and mental.
Our country has been more frankly involved with doing these clearly illegal practices in a manner that has brought shame and dishonor to our supposed superior culture. It should make us all ashamed, more so by these continuing pretenses that we were unsure what was right.
