People rush an injured man to a hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan, after a suicide bomber struck a mosque in Darra Adam Khel.

Two bomb attacks on mosques left more than 60 people dead and scores injured in northwestern Pakistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the most lethal attack, in which a 17-year-old suicide bomber struck a Sunni mosque during Friday prayers. —JCL

Al-Jazeera English:

At least 60 people have been killed and dozens of others injured after a 17-year-old suicide bomber struck a Sunni Muslim mosque in northwest Pakistan during Friday prayers.

The blast collapsed part of the mosque’s roof on top of worshippers, and there are fears the death toll from the explosion could rise. A local official said 11 children were among the dead, Dawn newspaper reported.

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), or Pakistan Taliban Movement, claimed responsibility for the attack, which was not the first against the mosque, Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder reported. The suicide bomber’s explosive weighed between 10 to 15 kilograms, Hyder said.

“There are blood and body parts everywhere. Elderly people and children are among the dead and wounded. I have not seen such a tragic scene in my whole life,’’ said villager Zafar Khan, according to the Associated Press news agency.

NEWSFLASH.. 40 plus people have been shot up or blown up in Matamoros, Mexico just this afternoon. The University of Texas campus here, which is right on the border, was shuttered.. Border crossings are suspended and Brownsville, Texas USA residents are giving reports of bullets falling on their homes..

This on top of daily violence and mass killings within shouting distance of Brownsville and other border cities and communities. If you go to Mexico there are armed and armored troops and vehicles with their automatic weapons trained on you most everywhere.. (we sell or give them that stuff, how kewl is that?).

But this violence won’t make the grade here on TD or more than a blip on national news..

Why is this all a secret? Good question! maybe it doesn’t fit with the agenda of the news makers and policy makers for average people in our country to know there is an insurgency (possibly a popular insurgency) right here in our best NAFTA partner nation.. Mexico!

Oh yeah, let’s all go to Puerto Vallarta or Can Cun this winter! .. fares are down! bring your flak vest!

Vamonos!

Love was personified in Jesus and now fear is being personified in Anwar al-
Awlaki. He has become the modern day Jack the Ripper who not only murdered his
victims but also tore their bodies apart. Americans are fortunate that Anwar lives
in Afghanistan rather then having him prowling the back alleys of L.A. or NYC.
