Bin Laden Sought Attacks on U.S. Railways Post-9/11

An initial inspection of the vast data trove recovered from Osama bin Laden’s personal belongings Sunday revealed that he was directly involved in planning terrorist attacks from his hideaway compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, officials said Thursday. Potential targets included U.S. railways. —ARK

The New York Times:

The documents include a handwritten notebook from February 2010 that discusses tampering with tracks to derail a train on a bridge, possibly on Christmas, New Year’s Day, the day of the State of the Union address or the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, officials said. But they said there was no evidence of a specific plot. An Obama administration official said that documents about attacking railroads were among the first to be translated from Arabic and analyzed. The materials, along with others reviewed in the intelligence cache, have given intelligence officials a much richer picture of the Qaeda founder’s leadership of the network as he tried to elude a global dragnet.

“He wasn’t just a figurehead,” said one American official, speaking only on condition of anonymity, who had been briefed on the documents. “He continued to plot and plan, to come up with ideas about targets, and to communicate those ideas to other senior Qaeda leaders.”

Yes.  Duh.  Any dipstick in a major metropolitan area could have told you the chills
they felt riding public railways in the days after 9/11.  Still.  It’s not really a matter
of if, as much as a matter of when.  We’re no closer to changing our ways or
policies abroad.  So, what else can we expect because of that?
Sure.  It’s a scary prospect.  But.  Just what are the conditions that we as a country
have created that have allowed this kind of behavior to be possible in the first
place?  Until those change.  I don’t expect much more than a different shoe
carrying the same poo.
At this point with our media still yammering about him.  We’re just encouraging
the trombones and plainly distracting the sheep.

OBL… the gift that keeps on giving

having invested billions in his legend, no way is the intelligence community going
to let it all go to Davie Jones’ Locker along with the corpse

but, perhaps there’s a silver lining… perhaps the intel ‘treasure trove’ alone is rich
enough to fuel the war on terror into infinity and save western-world civilians
from suffering innumerable waves of false flag terrorism

of course the targeted 3rd world will continue to take the hits… so what’s new?

“Or could it be that a group of men, with a legitimate grip with America, exploited a weakness in our security and did as much damage as they could have? I am going to go with Occam’s razor on this one.”

All very well and good but the problem is, you see, they blew the World Trade Centre to ‘kingdom come’ as someone in the Bush administration stated in a frank and fearless admission. It was thermite, you see. Now if you consider this for a second you’ll realize where the problem lies. No foreign terrorists could possibly have gained admission to those buildings for the period of time it would have taken to wire them up. However:

In the weeks leading up to the attacks ‘security operations’ were carried out in the twin towers and in building number 7. As September 11 drew closer the teams carrying out the ‘security operations’ started working 12 hour shifts. Then a couple of days before the attacks all the bomb sniffing dogs were suddenly withdrawn from the World Trade Centre. Then there’s the piece de résistance. Who sat on the board of the company that was in charge of security not only for the World Trade Centre but also for United Airlines? None other than Marvin Bush, George W. Bush’s brother. Their cousin, Wirt Walker III, was the CEO of this company from 1999 to 2002. From 1996 to 2000 this company installed a new security system in the Twin Towers. They had received an $8.3 million contract to do this. As David Ray Griffin, a professor, Christian theologian and 9/11 expert, has pointed out, no foreign terrorists could possibly have had the required access to these buildings to plant the thousands of explosives needed to bring them down in a controlled demolition. But others did have that access.

There have been scientific experiments carried out on dust from the World Trade Centre by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and other scientific institutions, including Logical Systems Consulting in Perth, Western Australia and they have yielded results that give an important clue as to how the themite could have been placed in the World Trade Centre ‘in plain sight’. Specifically tests were carried out on red-gray chips or spheroids found in all four dust samples collected by separate individuals who lived in New York on 11th September 2001. The scientists found that not only were these chips almost certainly thermite but that:

‘Commercially available thermite behaves as an incendiary when ignited but when the ingredients are ultra-fine grain (UFG) and are intimately mixed, this ‘nano-thermite’ reacts very rapidly, even explosively and is sometimes referred to as ‘super thermite’ (The Open Chemical Physics Journal, 2009, Volume 2, p. 23).

Most of the experiments were centered on the red component of the chips because the scientists seem to have suspected from the start that these were ‘unreacted’ thermite. Their conclusion in essence: ‘We observe that the spheroidal residues from ignition of (the) red chips possess a strikingly similar chemical signature to a typical XEDS spectrum from a spheroid generated by commercial thermite. This similarity supports our hypothesis that the red chips are indeed a form of thermite’ (The Open Chemical Physics Journal, p.23).

Only military/intelligence operatives had the opportunity and the expertise to do this, so any reasonable person is led to conclude that that’s what they were.

Gulf of Tonkin and Watergate?  Yeah, those are a great comparisons to 9/11.  Gulf
of Tonkin happened in the middle of the South China Sea under military
leadership and still couldn’t be hushed up.  Watergate was minor political
espionage in the darkness of night and was brought down in real time.  That’s
what I am saying, secrets do not stay secret.  Now compare that to an operation
that was conducted in open view and would have required the complicity of
numerous agencies, thousands of men and women, billions of dollars, full media
cooperation and you think that would stay secret?
Or could it be that a group of men, with a legitimate grip with America, exploited
a weakness in our security and did as much damage as they could have?
I am going to go with Occam’s razor on this one.

“I know, I know, 9/11 was an inside job and I’m a big idiot for buying the government propaganda.  You are totally right, a master conspiracy of the new world order was able to implode the buildings and start a couple of wars and keep it all a secret from everyone.”

But it WASN’T kept secret - not if you know where to look.  But if you bury your head in the sand, you will never see the signs and evidence.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident was also “a secret” - until people started digging, and found that it was a false flag attack; i.e., that LBJ knew full well BEFORE he went on TV that no attack had occurred on U.S. ships. But he needed a “galvanizing event” to rally the country so he could escalate the war, so he blatantly lied to the American public in order to do so.

Had it not been for a curious janitor, Watergate would almost certainly have remained “a secret” - until enough digging was done, and the facts came out.

Iran-Contra was “a secret” - again, until people started digging and found out what was happening.

Our history is replete with false flag attacks and other “secrets.”  But those “secrets” only come to light when people QUESTION them, and start finding evidence to refute them.

9/11 is such an event.  But if you ignore history, and regurgitate the government line that anyone who questions the “official story” is (pejoritvely, epithetically) a “conspiracy theorist,” you will never see the truth.

Peace.

This is how ludicrous the modern age has become.  People who believe
themselves to be smart and logical think it absurd, or even impossible, that a man
who declared war on the United States and took part in the 9/11 attacks would
not have been planning another attack.

I know, I know, 9/11 was an inside job and I’m a big idiot for buying the
government propaganda.  You are totally right, a master conspiracy of the new
world order was able to implode the buildings and start a couple of wars and keep
it all a secret from everyone.  That’s a much more logical angle.

surfnow, I agree with you this time.  The long term consequences of other (real)
big lies in our history prevent us from thinking logically in the present.  It is about
the oil, but no conspiracy is needed.

Oh dear! Does this mean that now just to ride across town we will have to be subjected to a procto exam each time? Most of this insanity is fueled by the Bush/Cheney gangster 8 years and the current nuevo gangsterism of Obama.

I certainly didn’t vote for Obama thinking he was going to continue the crimes of Bush/Cheney and really don’t think many of the voters did either. He has been pre-empted by the right wing nutcases or he was always in bed with them from the beginning. I will never vote for him again and would and haven’t voted for Republicans ever. So who am I going to vote for next time?

Like the famous boy who cried wolf scenario that I was told when I was eight years old, there have been so many lies, half-truths told, and so many machinations, it is impossible to believe anything, anymore, that comes out of anyone in government at any level. The only thing that I know is an absolute certainty, is that our addiction to oil has led us to this brink of insanity.

Yes, Doug, he did. And he was also (shock, horror) into line dancing. Can you imagine. It’s all there in the TROVE!!! Clearly they think we’re incredibly stupid, and panicked- like rabbits caught in headlight beams- and that we’ll believe any shit they dish up. They make me laugh but they also make me sick to my stomach.
