We’re ever so happy and humbled to announce that Truthdig has once again been picked as one of the five finalists for the Webby Award in the “Blog - Political” category! This year, the competition is formidable, with some serious heavy hitters, including Comedy Central’s Indecision, The Huffington Post, TheAtlantic.com Politics and Close Read on NewYorker.com. We are a small but tenacious team, and we’re honored to be included in a lineup like this.

That said, we’re making a play for the People’s Voice Webby, which is where our supporters come in, as it’s an award won by popular vote. Let your voice and choice be known on the official Webby site, where you can sign up directly or stay outside the registration fray by voting via Facebook or Twitter. From there, head to our ballot at the “Blog - Political” section (once more with feeling, that’s “Blog - Political”) and help us blaze our way to Webby glory.

This one’s for all of you, too—it’s our readers who inspire us to keep on digging. Cheers!

yo again. you know, i was just saying, not that
Mr.Fish isn’t brilliant, Chris is a popularist
(trekking high above thin air- for thoughts of
publicity:> being chained to a fence for a day…),
and Mr. Scheer IS sharp conclusive intellect of other
peoples’ work, if that’s what you are looking for -
the rest is so mundane. ‘Bravo Mr. President, our
road to global parity is a one-way downhill, which
you execute with the form of an Olympian’: as if the
definitive course in bringing nations to our level -
indisputably, undeniably, as if we all agree- is that
we must drop to their level: instead of slowly
pulling them up to ours. i just want to read occasionally, that we can do more good for the world,
from a position of strength; than one of lowered
expectations. continually being prodded, that it is
mandated we fail, is losing readership; as myself,
and others, are now mostly absent from this mantra. i
do not drink oil for breakfast, do not want to kill
brown people, and am proud of our nation and its
history. i want 5% taxation, only military Defense,
and a good paying job. i used to read here to find
out, why that is impossible. now, i want to read how
it IS possible. all i see is, control of content is
on the bandwagon of, ‘his is the only way, because it
must be the best way, because he is so clearly
unprecedented’. i say he is unsustainable, and other
ways to get what we all want may be found listening
to different ideas, that have been lacking fresh
alternative perspective here. otherwise, i enjoy
reading about Kobe One Wannobe, and name calling
antics of the sports world: even more so, if i could
afford to go see the Finals. i can barely afford gas
to buy food AT Wal-Mart! we get lies, and the truth
is suppressed. we have been in the game long enough
to know, “they” now hold all the cards, and we have
heard all the lies too many times, and we are just
along for the ride; looking for the breath of truth
you used to look for. i was happy you won in 2010, as
i truly enjoyed that year. this year you can only win
by default. good luck, ...

for Rob and family’s sake, hope the judges don’t surf in while the comments interface
is glitching out - though that could be by design if the intent is to shield their
compromised perspectives from stuff like this:

2 things to never forget:

1. “Deception is a state of mind and the mind of the state.” - James Jesus Angelton -
Director of CIA Counter Intelligence (1954-74)

2. “The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major
media.” - William Colby - Director of the CIA (1973-76)

Two responses:

1) To rollzone, I’d recommend you head directly to Chris Hedges’ columns; do
not pass ‘go’: http://www.truthdig.com/chris_hedges

Also see this recent article by Robert Scheer:

2) To doublestandards/glasshouses, the book review is alive and well and runs
every Friday: http://www.truthdig.com/arts_culture/category/book_reviews

being up for for any award where the puffingtonhost is considered a finalist makes it a total joke, and disqualifies the ‘judging agency’ as worthless.  just my .02.  I think TD is a fine site.

More Republicans are reading TD now? The articles are garbage? Maybe Fox News would be more to some peoples licking?

All the inequities are there, I suppose disagreement seems to be in the causes and how to correct them!

The Mass Media is covering all the crap and garbage I do not want to hear nor read about,.... so rollzone,  how about specifics instead of generalizing, .... might be a bit more constrictive?

The advertisements are annoying enough, but with my slow web connection, the adds make loading equal to watching paint dry…... I wish I had a web TeaVo!  But I know it is my connection and not TD’s fault.

Good Luck TD!

hello again…wanted a discussion on content. we are
a nation which usually employs 4 out of 5 men, which
has been reduced to employing 2 out of 3 men; holding
steady with half the women employed. so much has to
do with government policy, government waste,
government regulation, government growth, lack of
governing, all around bad government- that more men
are saying to hell with working. everything this
government is doing is destroying our will, our
wealth, and our future: and all the media content is,
is what great people we have guiding us into the
abyss. it is now alike this is a part of the propaganda media machine, preparing us for four more
years- when this used to be more truthful. dig?

I know that the younger generation doesn’t like to read anything but 10 word tweets but what happened to the book reviews?  There are still many readers here.

hello. whatever your format now is, it is terrible. you
work hard, but the the articles are mostly garbage. the
government wants to rush $5 billion to build a new
Palestine. why? Oboymamma has an approval rating of
17%. it is supposed to be the year of the woman. energy
is no longer a priority, and inflation is killing us at
the grocery store, and the government needs more taxes,
and we are in three wars, and climate change is causing
droughts, and the Republicants will not field a strong
challenger to Oboymamma- and where are the articles?
