The “Clean Feed” Internet filter aims to restrict public access to things like child pornography.

The implementation of a national Internet filter in Australia, hilariously dubbed the “Clean Feed,” has been postponed as “sections of the community” continue to criticize the extent to which the filter would block content. —JCL

Al Jazeera English:

The Australian government has postponed its plans to introduce a national internet filter that has been criticised as web censorship.

Stephen Conroy, the communications minister, said on Friday that introduction of the “Clean Feed” filter would be delayed for a review of what material should come under the initiative.

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page.

Well, fellow citizens, either we, collectively, stand up NOW and SCREAM… “NO MORE”... or the control freaks who set themselves in authority over us will turn us all into BORG DRONES.

Allow them to filter the net and you might just as well disengage from it. There will be no going back. It will be increasing censorship until you’re getting access ONLY to what they approve. That’s like using a library where some anal retentive committee chooses which topics/opinions/facts are on the shelves. Useless.

I pity the next generation. What a crap filled world they’re getting stuck with.
