A campground on the Caddo River in western Arkansas is inundated by floodwaters early Friday.

Update: Eighteen people have been confirmed killed after flash floods swept through a campground in western Arkansas early Friday morning. Authorities on Sunday said three people were still missing. Earlier reports had said dozens more were missing and feared dead. —JCL

Los Angeles Times:

State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Sunday that police have only confirmed that three missing people were in the Albert Pike Recreation Area during the pre-dawn Friday flash floods, and that many of the others are not believed to have been in the danger area.

Sadler said authorities have not yet contacted all of the people still unaccounted for but not believed to have been in the campground.

Eighteen people have been confirmed killed in flash floods that swept through the popular Albert Pike Recreation Area before dawn on Friday.

Crews resumed their search for survivors and bodies early Sunday morning.
