Arab States Create Israel ‘Contact Group’Posted on Apr 19, 2007A number of Arab foreign ministers have appointed Egypt and Jordan to meet with Israel over a peace proposal that would normalize relations between the Jewish state and the Arab world in exchange for a long list of concessions, some very unlikely to be met. Though the two “contact” nations already have ties with Israel, other states would be willing to join in, should Israel take immediate steps.

By dick, April 20, 2007 at 9:02 am # 60+ years ago, after the sensible British hastily withdrew, only a fool would get needlessly embroiled in the Jewish/Muslim mayhem in Palestine. But US presidents proved to be those fools, and we,the masses, have been paying for it ever since at astronomical costs.
By vet240, April 19, 2007 at 3:41 pm # All diplomatic break-throughs begin with both sides talking, not with one side (America) refusing to talk. Why would anyone want to talk to this Administration.
By Tom Doff, April 19, 2007 at 3:10 pm # They’re gonna need some ground rules for these meetings. I suggest: 1. No nukes, at least not in the conference rooms. All parties agree to let the conference be televised by a consortium of AlJazeera, Fox, and ABC, with an unedited, true broadcast provided directly to the Internet. Should be an interesting event. I’ll sure tune in to Truthdig to watch it.
By anonymous, April 19, 2007 at 7:47 am # Israel’s position is getting weaker by the day. They can’t use their nukes any easier than we can. Nobody would be on their side but the U.S. and that doesn’t mean a damned thing anymore. We’ve gone from mutually assured destruction with Russia to globally assured destruction and I’m pretty sure both sides are looking forward to it. Add Your Comment |
