And the hypocrite-of-the-day award goes to Andy Harris of Maryland. The incoming Republican congressman who campaigned against “Obamacare” caused a stir Monday when he complained that his government-subsidized congressional health care coverage would be delayed a month.

Politico via Political Wire:

A conservative Maryland physician elected to Congress on an anti-Obamacare platform surprised fellow freshmen at a Monday orientation session by demanding to know why his government-subsidized health care plan takes a month to kick in.

Republican Andy Harris, an anesthesiologist who defeated freshman Democrat Frank Kratovil on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, reacted incredulously when informed that federal law mandated that his government-subsidized health care policy would take effect on Feb. 1—28 days after his January 3rd swearing-in.

Well, this is faster than I thought. An actual
demonstration of what ‘tea party changers’ really
want by getting elected. And this is just about a
week delay in using his newly acquired free
government medical insurance once in office, and
he acts as if he should have it right here and
now. Surely must have a house load of sick family
members at home needing that free medical care.

Wonder how much he will bitch about the bribe
money the lobbyists will pay him when they come
to his office.

Kucinich had the right idea.  Either Congress extends the same health care plan that Congress gets, to all of the people of this country, or Congress loses their socialized medicine.

Ever notice that these politician/doctor types are all in the highly paid medical sub-specialties: surgery, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, etc. No primary care docs here. The only exception was Howard Dean and he didn’t get elected.

Narcissists Rico calls them, and what a apt description it is indeed! Politics attracts narcissists like light attracts moths.

This fool is so narcissistic he probably doesn’t even see the hypocrisy.  He probably thinks its different because its about him.  He deserves it, because he is so special and important.

That’s really the problem with politicians isn’t it? They all can be bent so easily because of their selfish, self-important ways.  They have no backbone to stay true to ideals.  They see the ideals applying to the behavior of others, but in the mind of the narcissist, they are special and therefore exempt.

Anyone who hasn’t figured out that members of
Congress - old or new - are in Congress to subvert
the interests of the country and the American people
to their own self-interests, is a slow-learner.

Anyone wonder why Democrats are caving to Republicans
on what happens to the tax-cuts of the 2% of us?
Sixty House members out of office in January are not
about to do anything that would jeopardize their
‘waiting’ lobbying jobs. “You let my tax-cuts lapse?
Forget the job.”

(I’m actually beginning to think that this scenario
might just be an ‘explanation’ of why so many
democratic members of the House and Senate vote
‘Republican’ so often.)

Yes, NO medical benefits for anyone in Congress. They are paid a large enough salary to buy their own private plans. When I called one of my senators, the phone answerer whined about their having to pay 20% as co-pay. Boo-effing-hoo.

gstoddard:I bet this “doctor” from the T.P.ers is another self appointed doctor like Rand Paul the dr.-dentist who never went to a legitimate college of dentistry and instead appointed himself a dentist with no formal training. So he started his elected term in the GOP as a self appointed liar.

If this person is actually a real legit doctor, one would assume that he had enough $$ to purchase his insurance for himself and any family he might have. Most doctors work independently and pay for their coverage out of their own pockets. Why does this up-start feel he is entitled to health insurance? He hasn’t really proven he is qualified for this job in the first place. Most jobs I have worked you have to have several months and a certain number of on the job hours and yes even years in some cases on that job to be eligible to buy into an employer medical insurance plan and if your hours drop, you loose your medical insurance and no you cannot re-buy your self back into the plan if your hours increase. Once you loose it, your toast.

There should be a “probation period” for all new politicals, like 6-12 months before they are considered “full time” employees and can only be allowed to buy into medical coverage-no more free medical for these wealthy crooks and if they have a poor performance record or fail to do a proper job in office, they should be thrown out of office, FIRED. No benefits or perks can continue once their term is over one way or another.

AS these are part time of a part time of a part time job anyway, these newly elected T.P.ers should not even expect to have medical coverage free off the back of the taxpayers. Since all the repugs yell how much America does not need a health program and they are always on some type of a recess, they would never be eligible for medical insurance from any “real jobs” that everyday Americans work. They are not even part time employees and service workers at that. They are not entitled to this benefit. Period. What is good enough for the almost 50 million Americans who have no health insurance as they cannot afford it, is more than good enough for these over paid ignorant political hacks. In fact, Mitch McConnell feels that certain working people should not be paid minimum wage(currently 7.25/hr) and should be paid less than $2.00/hr. So if that is what he feels that service workers should be paid, I believe that since all congress people should be paid less than $2.00/hr also. Besides most of them already come from moneyed backgrounds, most are lawyers who have other work, so since they feel that God or whatever tells them to run in politics to serve the population, they should be more that ecstatic to work for little or no money.

It is time for “we the people” to make the rules as to these government service workers and what their pay should be, any benefits they might get,no paid vacations, as they do not work enough hours in a year to even qualify for health insurance as a job benefit like the rest of the American workers. And these congress critters are on one continuous vacation that last almost the entire year and when they finally do show up to their elected jobs, they make a larger mess for the rest of us to clean up after they leave.

Perhaps these ungrateful new workers should be tossed out on their ass and find out what reality is for a change.

Deny him, because he clearly has a a pre-existing condition of chronic hypocrisitis/possible acute indifference to the American public. Just remember folks, entitlements are only for those in power. To all those non-insured folks who back this guy: he is effectively calling you a lowly dog.

That’s what I like about you, Rico, you are a true Conservative, not one of these phony-bull-ony selfish, lying, self-serving fascist son-of-a-bitches.  You feel about this prick the same way I felt about Robert Byrd.  He’s betrayed your values, as did Byrd.  I respect that.

Ah! What a country. It just happened that I was reading of the good doctor’s plight
while watching the end of the PBS NewsHour. The TV went silent as the photos and
names of 9 of our brave soldiers and Marines who have died recently in
Afghanistan and Iraq scrolled by.

What a juxtaposition. On the one hand I have a reminder of the supreme sacrifice
being made by brave patriots and on the other we have one of the most privileged
members of our society complaining because he may have to pay COBRA
premiums for 28 days. Furthermore the good doctor will now be in position to
continue to deny reasonable health care to 33 million fellow citizens.

I don’t know the good doctor, but I wonder how he justifies or rationalizes his
behavior and its moral implications.

I will devote the next two years to seeing to it that he does not get re-elected. If this election is to mean anything to Republicans, they have to understand that the public is tired of this type of behavior.

As I have said on other threads, I am prepared to be pissed at the failure of these narcissists to live up to their promises. I really just didn’t think I’d find an example in just two weeks.

Now I know how you Obama supporters feel.

Figures the f***er is a doctor.  Doesn’t want “socialized medicine” because it will eat his taxes—but wants free health care for himself.

This is the epitome of the Tea Party.
