O'Keefe arrested
AP/Patrick Semansky

James O’Keefe, left, and Stan Dai, one of three people arrested with him, leave the St. Bernard Parish jail in Chalmette, La., on Tuesday.

Budding filmmaker and right-wing sting operator James O’Keefe was among a group of four people arrested in New Orleans on Monday for entering the office of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu under false pretenses. The 25-year-old O’Keefe had previously been heralded by GOP types for shooting footage of ACORN employees allegedly involving themselves in the cover-up of a (fabricated) prostitution business.  —KA

The Washington Post:

The 25-year-old O’Keefe, hailed as a conservative hero last fall for his undercover videos that damaged a liberal group, was among four arrested and charged Monday in New Orleans with entering a federal office on false pretenses. Documents outlining the charges were unsealed by prosecutors Tuesday.

Conservative supporters of O’Keefe claim he and two others entered Landrieu’s office in an effort to conduct another undercover video sting—to show on video that citizens trying to call the senator’s phones to complain could not get through. Two of O’Keefe’s partners, prosecutors allege, pretended they were telephone repair workers to get access to the office receptionist’s phone, while O’Keefe was inside the office and using a cellphone to record them trying to call the line.

Seems being caught and arrested for attempted deceptions by a successful politician or one who has successfully implemented and supported deceptions as part of the most grand deception, most amusing.

This kid may be a a budding Republican, but has not quite made it to the George Bush level yet. It is reported the janitor may have seen the tea bags hanging from his ears?

Stingers getting stung or is this just another publicity stunt for advertising the Fox circus?

During these times when our great nation is at war with terrorism, “pranks” like
this should be dealt with harshly.  These “kids”, they are clearly adults, are not
part of the television series, Punked.  This is a terrorism within our own borders.
Those involved, and we must find who put these people up to this act, must be
held accountable.

Not provided in this report is that Flanagan is the son of the U.S. Attorney representing Shreveport.  Also not mentioned is that one of the attorneys representing one of the kids is the same guy who represented Howard Baker in the Watergate case.

The real question here is: was this just a “freelance” prank (albeit an illegal one) gone wrong by these four - or are there “others” behind them (i.e., providing moral, technical, financial support)?

If the latter, we need to know who they are.

They clearly should be held accountable and face charges.  They engaged in espionage and should be locked up accordingly.

But there are other activities unrelated to this case that should also be explored regarding the FBI:
