Americans Believe the Dumbest ThingsPosted on Aug 25, 2010
Here’s a listicle that many Americans, unfortunately, can believe in. Yes, it’s Funny or Die’s roundup of nine ideas, ranging from the goofy to the spooky to the downright embarrassing, that scores of fellow denizens of the USA hold to be true. And yes, the whole Obama-is-a-Muslim racket figures among them. Big sigh. —KA

I do believe it, but it makes one shake their head.

to print some of wikileaks,,,,
runs a story that is unflattering about Venezuela,

and of course, for ulterior motives.
Because , not only has the U.S. govt participated in an
illegal coup attempt of their president, it pumps untold
secret money to disrupt the social structure of that

I’ll see your creationist and raise you one 9/11 Truther.

I find both absurd but there are FAR more creationists.
**************************
Fidel and Hugo are gods.
**************************
Not to me. Castro had a chance to be something far better, but he liked having his two-a-day with no repeats too much. Chavez has turned Caracas into the most dangerous city on earth, worse than Bagdad.
*******************
Dick Cheney has killed millions of people all over the world.
*********************
No, he only shoots close friends!
*********************
Republicans believe that Democrats believe Rich people got that way by stealing money from poor people (who evidently must have been rich at some point).
**********************
Fixed it for you.
***********************
All Christians are bigots. “Muslim extremism” is an oxymoron. The burqa is a cute, harmless cultural tic, sort of like lederhosen on Bavarian hikers, or kimonos on geishas.
***********************
New one on me, other than “Muslim extremism” is an oxymoron. I keep expecting the 9/11 truthers to argue that the mine disaster in Chile and the BP oil spill were really Mossad “False Flag” Black Ops—after all everything evil attributed to Muslim terrorists really were CIA/Mossad “False Flags” (according to them)
*********************
Zionists rule the world. No wait. The CIA rules the world. Ok. The CIA is made up of a bunch of neo-con Zionists, so that’s right then.
*************************
Every now and then one of them hints on TD that Jews around the world better watch out for “payback”. That’s when I stop laughing.
*****************
BP fucked up the Gulf on purpose; they wanted their fifteen minutes of fame.
*****************
Never heard that one. You are stretching on that.
******************
Progressives love “the people”. Republicans merely love “America” (Eeeew!).
Government knows what’s best for you. No wait. Government is run by the banks. Never mind, give the government all our money and let them take care of us. No wait, that means the banks will get the money. I know! We need more government.
******************************
How about: “More government is BAD if it helps poor people. More government is GOOD if it helps rich people pay less taxes and throws terrorists in jail without trials.”
************************
Dennis Kucinich (who, last time I checked, is way into that Roswell thing) is the salvation of mankind.

That’s almost as funny as believing that if it weren’t for cheaters gaming the system, RALPH NADER would be President!

I going to have a FIELD DAY listing some of the amazing things I’ve read from die-in-the-wool td-ers over the last year. I predict this will be the most responded to post in all time.

I gave up on believing Americans had any intelligence at all after 59 million of us elected a congenital idiot to a second term as our president. What, you weren’t paying attention during the first term? Maybe you were in the bathroom.
******************
no, No, NO, NO!!!
59 million voted AGAINST the idiot. 62 million “voted” for him, according to Diebold…It’s very likely that the election of 2004 was stolen just as much as the election of 2000 was.

We HAD a real Christian President—He was hounded from office by the pretend “Christian” right-wing-nuts, who sold out their fellow Americans in Iran to elect Ronald Reagan.
That Christian President tried to end the ME conflict, end our dependence on foreign oil, indeed on fossil fuels, instituted economic policies that, while painful, ultimately healed the economy, and even speaks fluent (albeit horribly accented) Spanish. He called STRONGLY for us NOT to invade Iraq in 2003, and won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work AFTER Reagan defeated him. Reagan’s out-of-office work consisted of collected high fees for making speeches.

Offshore, I’m with you, the list was pretty stupid.
But then I started wondering…
What difference does it make if Obama is a Muslim??? He says he’s a Christian, but I don’t see that as making much difference either. Like most elected officials, he does as he damned well pleases and blames the outcome on his predecessor.
Actually, a [real] Christian or a [real] Muslim in the Presidency, might make a difference. But we are never going to find out if that is a true statement or if it is just something 34% of the public believes - or is that 43%?

The 10th Dumbest Thing Americans Believe is that there is nothing they can or should do about:
war and the overblown Pentagon/Industrial Complex
improving public education
assuring a better economic deal for ordinary people
getting rid of the worst excesses of the PatriotAct
ending torture and jail rape
making media and the press more accurate
improving the U.S. image abroad
putting reasonable controls on corporate profits
and Wall Street gambling
Other?
All of the above will require grassroots public action campaigns, but they are entirely possible, providing the public will act and give democracy the support it deserves.
