Ahmadinejad Says 2 U.S. Hikers Will Be Freed (Updated)Posted on Sep 14, 2011
Update: The Iranian Justice Ministry has contradicted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and said the release of the two hikers who were sentenced to eight years in prison could be delayed. According to CBS News:
Earlier (originally posted on the morning of 9/13): Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has announced that two American hikers who were sentenced to eight years in prison on charges of espionage and illegal border crossing would be released on bail in “a couple of days.” Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were arrested in July 2009 after walking across an unmarked border between Iran and Iraq. A third hiker, Sarah Shourd, was also arrested but released last year on $500,000 bail. The two men, their lawyer said, would be freed on the same bail—$500,000 each. Ahmadinejad told The Washington Post that the pair would be released as a “unilateral humanitarian gesture.” —BF

I’m sure a couple of young men of Iranian citizenship who just happened to be found walking around in the wilderness on our side of our borders without first legally entering America would be fed and welcomed and immediately returned to Iran! Ha Ha.
Can anyone doubt these young men attempted this jaunt for reasons other than a stretch of the legs? Personal or larger reasons?
I hope they are returned to their homes and families safe and healthy.. soon.
Yet if I were Iran I’d think maybe it would be better to hang on to them and give them apartments in the military headquarters and nuclear power plants. Just in case that might deter some shock and awe on their asses when Obama needs to pump up his poll numbers.
Adios!

I smell a back door deal.
The U.S. holds Iranian citizens in its jails as well.

I think they should be kept longer. Then, perhaps these dangerously stupid morons can shoot another hip hop video, from jail, and joke about playing spook.
