Georgia Courthouses Can Display 10 Commandments

Any municipality in the state apparently can post the commandments as long as they’re displayed alongside other historic documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Mayflower Compact.
Didn’t the Supreme Court have something to say about this recently?

Atlanta Journal Constitution:

The laws of man and God could soon share space in some of Georgia’s 159 county courthouses, provided there’s a government willing to risk the wrath of civil libertarians.

Starting today, governments can post the Ten Commandments as part of a courthouse or justice center display of nine historic documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Mayflower Compact and an image of Lady Justice.

The law is one of dozens approved during this year’s General Assembly session and that take effect today. They cover subjects from citizens’ right to “stand their ground” to protect themselves and the age at which minors can marry without a parent’s consent, to the minimum percentage of a school’s budget that must be applied toward classroom instruction.

The last time I looked, the Ten Commandments were NOT an historic document.
