Michelle Obama Just Gets Better and Better

White House / Samantha Appleton

The first lady entered the White House with no public agenda and with promises to focus on her children, but a year in, she has already made an impact. Her latest project is a mentoring program meant to inspire local girls by giving them access to some of the White House’s powerful women.

The Washington Post reports that unlike Michelle’s vegetable garden (inspired by food activist and hero Alice Waters) and her other important projects, this one is deeply personal:

Obama said she became interested in the power of mentoring as a corporate lawyer in Chicago. Her office, she said, was on the 47th floor of a downtown building and her windows faced south towards her old neighborhood. Kids who were just as smart and capable as she was missed out on opportunities and successes “by a hair,” she said.

And then she got a bit verklempt. “We’ve got the most powerful seat in the land to be a bridge-builder,” she told the girls, her eyes tearing and voice cracking. “And I’m so excited and touched and moved to have you all here…. I can get emotional.”  [Link]

Gallup puts Michelle Obama’s favorable rating at 61 percent—higher than her husband’s.

The White House is also planning a mentor program for boys.  —PZS

Pointless fluff, to help you believe they are really nice people, the dog, cocktails at
the WH, a garden, fashion statements, using the children to promote their
wholesome image, these people stabbed African Americans in the back with their
elitist BS. They represent corporate values. Nothing new, seen it all before. Change
you can believe in, my ass. Transparency, who turned out the lights?

It’s all a reality tv exercise to me, make America
feel good about their evil inside.
It shows how the Obama’s are really a PR stunt. I am
really tired of hearing about the clothes, the
handbags the bullcrap.
First you choose a prize prick then go for a prize
puppet. Although I can’t say much for my own
government, unfortunately it’s helped open more doors
for the non-political wives of politicians to get
their faces on the front cover of hello magazine or
something.
I get the feeling David Cameron’s wife will soon be
flaunting herself

Michelle Obama is just a taller, thinner Oprah Winfrey.
Don’t forget she used to work for the University of
Chicago hospital that steered poor patients AWAY to
neighboring clinics.

Bull shit….  The last thing poor black girls need is access to some of the “White House’s most powerful women.”  The White House’s most powerful psycopaths you mean!!!!!  “Study hard girls…  Sell your souls…. Become a spineless, soulless shill for corporate America…  Make lots of money… And maybe,,, just maybe,,, the white folks will let you into the Big House….  You don’t want to stay out there in the field do you????  Go ahead little girls and sell your soul like I did..”  Pathetic…..
