Baghdad Shaken by Worst Attack in Two Years

AP / Karim Kadim

An Iraqi army soldier stands guard as Iraqis gather at the site of a massive rush-hour bomb attack at the Ministry of Justice in Baghdad.

Two explosions near Baghdad’s Green Zone on Sunday killed more than 132 people and injured at least 520 more, by the BBC’s count. The suicide attacks targeted the Justice Ministry and a provincial government office.

Beyond the devastation and tragic loss of life, a major attack in Baghdad inevitably raises questions about whether it will affect the United States’ planned withdrawal. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released a statement expressing outrage, but also made specific mention of “the impressive progress that Iraq has made towards stability and self-reliance.”  —PZS

BBC:

US President Barack Obama has led international condemnation of Sunday’s double suicide bomb attack in Baghdad that killed at least 132 people.

Mr Obama branded the attacks—the worst in more than two years in Iraq—“hateful and destructive”.

the sad thing is melpol is probably the closest out of all of us when it come to American mainstream thinking on the the middle east in general.

the religions on the Eurasian continent have always been mixing mingling and struggling with one another.
it this American radical religion who are the real danger. they believe they are morally bound to use their might, which on its own is repugnat but not much of a problem… execpt for the 2000 THERMONUCLEAR weapons that are currently armed and ready to be fired.. aside from the 10,000 sitting in government run storage facilities guarded by the folks who could not make the cut for the abu graib nightshift.

god only knows what a peaceful world this would be if it wasn’t for the followers of The Desert Religions.

Yeah, this religious leader sure hits the nail on the head! Of course that is easy
to do in the safety and comfort I am sure he abides in.

Humans…isn’t it great how we try to explain our silly little actions on a fictional
character named Satan? Ahh, thank Allah for cop-outs! In fact, this lady at
work just got promoted instead of me. May the Great Oogly Boogly rain fire
upon her and vanquish all who stand in his way (even the firefighters who are
simply trying to put the fire out)! This is all justified in the name of “God”?
Open your eyes, friend. Do you even hear what you are saying?

Obviously, there is no cut-and-dry situation for Iraq. A wound cannot heal by
replacing the bandage with a banana leaf, but the wound requires much more
than either can offer.

What a mess. Perhaps tolerance is the answer? Nah- that would be too simple.

Israel must be defended against Jihad. The following is a rant from a religious
leader. “A small token of punishment has been shown to those that have turned
their backs on Allah. But lightening bolts will soon strike the cities and burn the
farms. The holy sword is returning and the flow of blood will cleanse the land.
Satan and his followers have angered the mighty one.  The tongues of infidels
must be cut out and dissidents beheaded to quench the thirst of Allah. Only then
will he smile again and bless us with peace.” Madmen are everywhere, the holy
city must not fall.

hey lets try the republican strategy?

ANY ONE WHO IS NOT FOR A COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN IS A TREASONOUS TRAITOR WHO IS PROVIDING AID AND COMFORT TO AL QUAEDA

I wonder if his majesty George Bush is using his “success” in Iraq as part of the talk he is currently giving on that motivational speech tour.

As soon as we pull our combat forces out of the cities, the endless Shia/Sunni civil war will continue.  One side will win and install a new “strongman”.
Saddam Jr. is on his way to power now, but he will be friendly to the USA and let us have unfettered access to oil, which afterall, is the only reason we are there.

Oh yeah, I’m sure that is what Allah would want there melpol. In the unlikely
event you are being serious with your post, here goes. First of all, have you ever
read the Koran? If so, then you might want to read it again. As such- yes,
anything that is written down is definitely open for humans to pervert the
meaning of what it is trying to say. This is the case in a ridiculously large scale
across the world in every single religion man has created. Hmm. It’s funny how
humans create these “sacred texts”, usually originally with the best intentions
in mind. Can’t you see how Imams and priests use religion as a political tool?
The power “vested” in them is too great and corruption soon ensues.

By the way, have you ever been in a war zone or felt the sheer terror of
imminent death? I’m pretty sure that if you had then this horrible atrocity
wouldn’t be so amusing. These “good” Muslims that are having fun killing their
brothers and sisters sure are getting their point across to the world! “We are
ignorant, bloodthirsty robots!” The sad part is how the actual suicide bombers,
while definitely not innocent, are simply puppets exploited by rich
politicians/religious leaders. In fact, If I recruited a couple of homeless,
uneducated, desperate boys from the street, gave them food, a purpose, a
false education, and a target, I am positive they would love to blow themselves
up in the name of God! But it isn’t Allah who commands this, it is evil men
living in comfort and laughing at your ignorance and my angry frustration.

Open your eyes, fool.

Yes, praise be to spilling blood…chop, chop, boom, boom, until those darn dissidents admit that their book learnedness is no match for our conjuring of that wrath of Allah, Jesus, Rahm, and whoever. They’re all pretty kickass, no? I agree, there can be only one!!! Don’t you think they should do another Highlander with Sean Connery? He should really be knighted. What has Anthony Hopkins really done in comparison? Oh, jihads, I digress…

The sword must return and infidel blood must cleanse the land. There are too
many voices in Iraq. It is written that only one holy voice should be heard.  The
tongues of the infidels must be cut out and dissidents beheaded. Allah be
praised.
