Boom Times for Pot GrowersPosted on Oct 20, 2009
The lousy economy has driven some Californians into the marijuana industry, which is doing a lot better than, say, construction. According to this Miller-McCune profile, California will grow an estimated $15 billion worth of weed in 2009, a good portion of it in the backyards and basements of amateurs and newcomers. That’s good news for local governments. Oakland hopes to raise $300,000 next year from a medicinal marijuana sales tax. The Justice Department has instructed U.S. attorneys not to go after users and dispensaries that operate within the laws of the states. That doesn’t mean a more permanent pot economy is just around the corner, but it is doubtless a step in that direction. —PZS

The California mass media, especially that of Los Angeles, is missing the big story when they report on the explosion of pot dispensaries in L.A., which now number well over 800. The big story, which you read only between the lines, is that there are no big problems emerging as pot becomes more common than MacDonalds hamburgers.
Where are all the ax murderers and heroin addicts and sex fiends that were supposed to happen if we didn’t lock people away for merely possessing marijuana? If you ask the cops they would probably admit that they would rather deal with someone who has been smoking weed than drinking booze any day.

Yes indeed. I have a young relative who’s paying his university tuition by way of his perfectly legal backyard-based pot business. Of course that doesn’t please big Pharma, or those who depend on an ignorant uneducated mass to guarantee their power, or potential money-lenders expecting to extract their pounds of flesh (around $80,000/student borrower at graduation). And our family? We applaud our young entrepeneur.

Somebody should infiltrate the kitchen at the Senate cafeteria and put large, large quantities of pot into the brownies, the soup, the casserole, the meatloaf, the whole grain bread rolls and any other dishes they can think of. The Senators should be fed this diet daily until they start listening to the people of America instead of the corporate mafia dons.

Calm down brother Ouroborous….
I got POT=Plenty of Trouble from a 1960’s episode of Dragnet!!! It was a classic!! The officers went to a local high school and put on a anti drug seminar… The students made anti drug posters and one of them said, P O T = Plenty of Trouble…. What made it all the more hilarious was that I was stoned to the bejesus when I saw it….
